Foreign Minister Eli Cohen landed in Turkey for a solidarity visit Israel today

Cohen will meet with Turkish President Erdogan and Foreign Minister Çavuşoğlu • The Israeli rescue mission rescued 19 people alive and as of today about 400 people received treatment at the hospital that was established there


Foreign Minister Eli Cohen landed this morning (Tuesday) for a solidarity visit to Turkey.

During his visit, Minister Cohen will meet with the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Belot Chabusulu, and will visit a field hospital established by Israel in the area affected by the earthquake.

Foreign Minister Eli Cohen: "I came to Turkey today to express solidarity with the Turkish people. I will meet with the President of Turkey and my colleague the Turkish Foreign Minister and express to them the condolences of the people of Israel for the severe disaster that has befallen Turkey. Israel stands by Turkey at this difficult time and will continue to assist it through the activities of our forces and supply of humanitarian equipment".

Israel has so far provided Turkey with more than 60 tons of humanitarian aid with the help of the Israel Defense Forces, the international aid agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The supplies include winter clothing, medical equipment and medicines.

The Israeli rescue mission rescued 19 people alive and as of today about 400 people have received treatment at the hospital set up on the spot by IDF officials, the Home Front Command and the Ministries of Defense and Health.
