Not just gifts - obsessive behavior, excessive spending and strange traditions such as hugging a cow and looking out the window before sunrise: the strangest Holantines customs in the world

If you thought that all the craziness here around Hollentinz is exaggerated - you are right.

But wait until you hear what this day does to people in other parts of the world, and you will understand why our government does not want us to adopt the "customs of the Gentiles".

Hollentinz's Tirol is already on every corner.

Every item or brand that can withstand this has been converted into a heart shape or painted pink, every textile and underwear company has gone on sale, every restaurant, bar, ice cream or pizza chain has released a special menu at an even more special price and every person with common sense understands that they are trying to milk money out of it which is actually Must.

But while in our country it can amount to something small like flowers, chocolate, a new bra or a seven-course meal at a price of NIS 890 per diner, in other countries the trick reaches far more fantastical realms:

Santa Claus from Ali Express

In the East of England, a whole folklore has developed around an unknown character named Jack Valentine who comes on Valentine's Eve, knocks on the back doors of houses and leaves sweets and gifts for children on the doorstep.

I don't find the connection between this and love, but after all, it is still an unclear holiday that no one understands which saint - or three - it is based on.

Besides, that's what happens when you order Santa Claus from Ali Express, it's not always about what you expected to get.

Oh, and sometimes it also looks a little scary.

This is perhaps why, despite the presents, most children were afraid of Jack Valentine, and he never managed to match the beloved old Santa.

@dsunbae what are you going to be celebrating this year?

The holiday of "friends"

in some countries, such as Finland, Estonia and many countries in South America, Holantines Day is not at all a day dedicated to romantic love but to friendship and love between friends.

Here too, I don't understand what the point is.

After all, it is clear that romantic love - or the lack of it - has a much greater selling power.

But apparently some people buy symbolic gifts on this day as a token of appreciation for their friends (who are you and why aren't you my friends?).

In addition, some claim that in some countries in South America, Valentines play "Secret Friend", which is like Secret Santa used at Christmas or as we know it - dwarf and giant, the annoying game in the universe.

The real question behind changing the meaning of the holiday is where is your joy in life?

Where is the mischief?

I would still believe about the Finns and Estonians, with all this cold, but I would never have thought that the South American temperament would be satisfied with celebrating "friendship".

What's interesting about celebrating friendship?

What will be the highlight of your evening?

Give fun?!

The day you will meet your husband

in Italy there is an ancient tradition that says that if you are single and want to get married, you should get up on Valentine's morning before sunrise and look out the window.

The first man you see will become your husband within a year.

Or at least will be very similar to the one who will become your husband within a year.

They do not fully guarantee the results.

And yet, despite the lack of commitment, masses of Italian bachelorettes would get up way too early that morning, just to look out the window and start developing obsessions.

Just think what it takes - to do a stocking for a whole year for that man who happened to be there and for all the men who look like him!

What a demanding tradition.

On the other hand, the men also took part in the matter, and probably did serious stalking throughout the year to understand where the women they were interested in lived and exactly from which window they would decide to peek on the fateful morning.

The Italian men are said to have developed great running abilities in the early hours of the morning, and I wonder if it was because they ran from window to window or between several different houses.

Either way, I wouldn't be surprised if whoever invented the swipe was Italian.

A great day to hug a

good cow, it's not really a tradition but more of an excited and fresh call - just from the last week - of the Indian government to the citizens.

Hollteenz Day is very popular in India, especially among the young, and it has become a holiday of marketing campaigns and expenses, just like we know.

It turns out that the Indian government is very concerned about the way Western traditions are pushing aside Indian tradition (we know this too), and now, in order to abandon Western customs and restore respect to Indian tradition, they are coming up with a strange initiative (again, familiar): to declare the 14 /2 As on "Cow Hug Day" and encourage citizens to hug a cow, which is considered sacred in India.

According to them, hugging a cow, precisely on this day, will increase private and collective joy.

I don't think there is anything to add.

Why a day if possible a week

now, why is the Indian government so worried?

Because people are no longer satisfied with one day of excessive spending, and even financial websites in India no longer treat Valentine's as a day of the year, but as a Valentine's week, where every day has a silly name, a silly meaning and customs - meaning expenses - of its own.

It begins on Rose Day, which symbolizes the eternal beauty of love and the cycles of income it brings with it.

Immediately after that, comes the day of the proposal: a friendship proposal, the confession of love or a marriage proposal.

That way, without any thought of a proper forplay and with complete disregard for the fact that there is already a random day that marketing chains marked as a perfect date for marriage proposals.

Then, after the proposal, comes Chocolate Day, Fur Doll Day, Promise Day, Hug Day and Kiss Day, and only after them will come Valentine's Day itself, when there will be no more trace of your bank account or your will to live.

And why a week if you can a day in a month, every month

if you thought that Hollentinez week is excessive, welcome to South Korea, where they celebrate love day every 14th of the month.

January 14th is Diary Day, when couples give each other, well, a diary.

But one where they wrote how they felt and everything.

February 14 is Hollteenz, but it is entirely dedicated to the women's initiative - they are the ones who buy gifts for the couple and confess their secret love.

The men can do the same only a month later, on March 14, which is also called White Day.

April 14th is the black day dedicated to singles and in which they, God forbid, wear black and eat black foods, and so on every month.

And others say that North Korea is extremist.
