The Forum de l'islam de France (Forif), a young body for dialogue with the State on the structuring of the Muslim faith, will present Thursday to Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee Palace its work carried out since its birth a year ago, announced this Tuesday the presidency.
The Forif is a structure born in February 2022 on the initiative of the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin who then wanted to turn the page of the French Council of the Muslim Worship (CFCM), undermined by internal struggles.
Development of "guides"
Made up of around sixty members, most of them locally committed and appointed by the prefects (cultural associations, religious associations, religious leaders, lawyers and jurists) and personalities, the forum has been working on four themes for the past year, in conjunction with the worship office at the Ministry of the Interior.
These are the status and professionalization of imams, the security of places of worship and anti-Muslim acts, the implementation of the so-called law against separatism and the appointment of chaplains (prisons, army, hospitals).
Thursday morning, the members of Forif are invited to the Elysée - a "
symbol
", according to an adviser - and "
the spokespersons of the four working groups will deliver their work
", indicated the presidency.

The Head of State will then take the floor to close the meeting.
However, the latter having "
already spoken several times about Islam
", there will be "
no particular announcement
", according to the source.
Forif's work resulted mainly in the development of several "
guides
", reported members of the forum to AFP.
On the security of places of worship and anti-Muslim acts, the guide includes, for example, “
contacts to support victims
”.
In addition, from Wednesday, territorial bases of Islam in France (Atif) will be held little by little in the departments, which will also have to examine the work of Forif.
