Ambassadors and heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Iran, chargé d'affaires and a number of senior Iranian officials and businessmen flocked to the Syrian Embassy in Tehran to offer their condolences for the victims of the earthquake that struck the country last Monday.

Condolences were offered to the Syrian ambassador in Tehran, Dr. Shafiq Dayoub, the ambassadors of Iraq, Algeria, the Sultanate of Oman, Venezuela, Malaysia, Tajikistan, Mexico and Vietnam, in addition to the charge d'affaires of the embassies of the UAE, Jordan, Tunisia, Palestine, South Africa and Serbia, the representative of the papal embassy and the Algerian military attaché.

The embassy was also visited by Ali Asghar Khaji, Senior Adviser to the Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs, Hossein Shah Hosseini, Director of the Syria and Lebanon Department in the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy in the Islamic Consultative Council, Abbas Kalro, Deputy Chairman of the Joint Iranian-Syrian Friendship Committee, Dr. The Economic Committee of the Joint Friendship Association Hassan Shakhasi, the advisor to the Iranian president and the head of the Aal al-Bayt Complex, the head of the Iranian-Syrian People's Friendship Association Hassan Akhtari, in addition to the Secretary-General of the Iranian-Syrian Joint Chamber of Commerce Hassan Shamshadi.

Diop called for an end to the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people, and to provide humanitarian aid to those affected, away from political agendas.

In Sana's statement:

 The Iraqi ambassador expressed his hope that the situation in Syria would return to normal and that it would return strong, stressing that there is a tendency to support the Syrian people and stand by them to face the repercussions of the earthquake.

For his part, the Jordanian ambassador said: We hope that life will return to the Syrian territories as soon as possible.

For his part, the Venezuelan ambassador expressed the condolences of the Venezuelan people to the Syrian people for the victims of the recent earthquake that occurred in Syria.

In addition, the Mexican ambassador expressed his country's regret for the disaster that befell Syria, and its willingness to help the Syrian people in these difficult moments.

The Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman offered condolences and sympathy to the Syrian people, calling for mercy for the victims and a speedy recovery for the wounded.

The Vietnamese ambassador expressed his country's deep regret over the disaster, affirming its support for the Syrian people, and calling on the international community to look at this issue from a humanitarian point of view only, without any discrimination.

For his part, the Malaysian ambassador affirmed his country's support for Syria to face the repercussions of the earthquake, pointing out that in these difficult cases everyone should help Syria.

In a related context, Ali Asghar Khaji, senior assistant to the Iranian Foreign Minister in special political affairs, affirmed that Iran will continue to provide assistance to those affected in Syria, calling on international organizations to lift coercive sanctions on Syria regardless of political orientations, and to deal with this matter as a humanitarian issue only.

In turn, the head of the Aal al-Bayt complex, Sheikh Hassan Akhtari, said: The unjust sanctions against Syria are American and Israeli conspiracies and those who stand with them against Syria, stressing that they will not be able to break the Syrian resistance, and will not affect its future either, stressing that Syria and its friends were able to overcome all difficulties and we are continuing to provide Aid for our Syrian brothers.

In addition, the Vice-Chairman of the Joint Iranian-Syrian Friendship Committee in the Islamic Shura Council, Abbas Kalro, renewed his country's readiness to provide all aid to Syria, given the long-standing friendship and strategic ties between the two countries, calling for the lifting of unjust sanctions against the Syrian people to facilitate the delivery of aid to those affected by the earthquake.

The Secretary-General of the Iranian-Syrian Joint Chamber of Commerce, Hassan Shamshadi, stressed that the strategic relations between the two countries play an important role in facing the crises they face.

For his part, Iranian Deputy Minister of Education Dr. Dariush Khodadadi said: “Our duty is to extend condolences to the Syrian people for the earthquake victims, and we continue to support the Syrian people.”

The embassy received some humanitarian aid to be sent to those affected by the earthquake.
