Her mind has nothing but what her eyes see on television: people are being beaten. Therefore he chooses a side. Every encounter that reveals the motif of fear on the other side - evokes empathy

Don't ask what historical event happened in our house last Saturday:

We had a detailed debate at the table between the two factions of the family, the right and the left, and not only did it not end in an explosion, but some disagreements were recorded, a conversation took place and we even managed to summarize it and move on to the next topic!

Which was, I think, a piece of gossip about the aunt, may she be healthy.

For a long time now I have been grappling with this dilemma of how to behave at the family level in these days of a social madhouse, when the storm is around and man is devouring his fellow man.

The accepted assumption says: let's not talk politics.

There is no way it will work.

After all, everyone is fortified in their positions anyway, no one will convince anyone and it will just be a mess.

And this is true, in principle, especially in a situation like ours, when the political debate is strongly and distinctly about "us and them".

In such a situation - what is the point of arguing?

Let's go straight to blows.

And here I recently came to the conclusion that without an argument - it won't work at all.

On the contrary: the fact that the only relevant debate these days is the "us and them" debate - stems from the fact that no debate actually takes place in any arena whatsoever.

The old media arena is not an arena.

There it's just a vicious tussle between channels.

After all, no conversation takes place within the panels themselves.

Just punches and kicks.

On the damned Twitter - not so much.

In some places on Facebook it actually does happen, mainly in the comments area, but it is too few and too old, and also lacks the main engine of mediation: the physical meeting.

60 percent of the mediation work in a meeting is done as soon as it even happens.

In the look in the eyes, in the handshake.

The political debate of these days does not exist, and it should exist.

And when it takes place, even if the tones rise and if fists are pounded on the tables - he does something.

The focus of the horror of the majority of brains these days is based on the complete disregard of the very reasoned position of the majority camp.

I have a lot of bad things to say about this position, but ultimately, it is also based on a lack of information.

Her mind has nothing but what her eyes see on television, and on television she sees people being beaten.

Therefore he chooses a side.

me too.

And vice versa, of course.

Any conversational encounter that reveals to the right-winger the motif of fear on the other side - must arouse empathy in him.

It's impossible not to.

It is true that, in my opinion, part of this fear originates from incitement, and it is true that, in my opinion, part of this fear could not exist if it were not for the preconceived opinion of the right-wing and religious camp, and yet - fear is fear.

And when someone is afraid - I want to hug them.

Turn the conversation into a Shabbat table conversation.

That's the goal.

And all this will not happen if there are no physical meetings.

In my imagination I see a national organization of many personal initiatives in the style of "living room memory" which is all very successful and useful.

It could be "arguing with dessert", "guests and fighting", doesn't matter.

We will decide on the copywriting later.

I know I sound cheesy and infinitely old, but that's the only way it will work.

There is no way to have an argument when you don't have an argument.

were we wrong

We will fix it!
