The Kafarbehm Charity Association in the western countryside of Hama, in cooperation with the activities of the local and civil society and the town council, launched an initiative to shelter 146 families affected by the earthquake, and to provide material, in-kind, medical, food and other assistance to the afflicted from various governorates.

Dr. Fadi Shammout, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Kafarbehm Charitable Association, stated in a statement to SANA reporter that, since the first moments of the earthquake disaster, the association began, in cooperation with civil activities in the town, to receive the affected families in homes equipped with all comfort necessities, and prepared houses to receive other families, in addition to distributing an emergency sum of money in the amount of 100 thousand.

Dr. Shammout added: The association, during its medical project, takes care of the costs of home medical examinations and services for these families through the presence of a cadre of volunteer doctors and nurses who are present in cases of necessity and around the clock.

Member of the Board of Directors of the Society, Nazim Tohme, pointed out that free medical analysis services were provided and prescriptions and medicines were dispensed to those affected for free, noting that this initiative was characterized by impetuosity and reinforced the importance of social, human and national solidarity towards those affected by the earthquake in various regions.

In her turn, the head of the town council, Engineer Jamal Al-Abdullah, stated that the town is working in a team spirit to alleviate as much as possible the suffering of the people affected by the earthquake, pointing out that the forms of solidarity and social cooperation between the people and the speed of their response reflected love, trust and full willingness to provide various assistance, whether in kind or material, to contain repercussions of the earthquake disaster.
