The Syrian-Indian Parliamentary Friendship Committee in the People's Assembly discussed today with Chargé d'Affaires of the Indian Embassy in Damascus, Satinder Kumar, the relations between Syria and India, and ways and mechanisms to enhance them in all fields, in the interest of the peoples of the two friendly countries.

The chairman and members of the committee emphasized the historical relations and continued work to further improve relations, especially parliamentary ones, increase visits between the two sides, exchange experiences and educational missions, appreciating India's honorable positions in international forums and support for Syria and its people in its war on terrorism, through which it confirms the right of Syrians to defend themselves. Their sovereignty and territorial integrity, support for just Arab causes, and condemnation of the Israeli occupation practices towards the brotherly Palestinian people.

The committee noted the importance of increasing cooperation between the two sides to press for the immediate and unconditional lifting of the siege and unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrian people, in order to overcome the catastrophic effects caused by the devastating earthquake, thanking India for the relief assistance provided by India to those affected by the earthquake.

For his part, Kumar extended his condolences to the families of the earthquake victims, indicating that his country continues to strive to provide humanitarian and relief support to those affected in order to overcome their catastrophic ordeal caused by the devastating earthquake, reaffirming his country's support for Syria in international forums, and its constant call to lift the imposed blockade. and guarantee the integrity, unity and sovereignty of its lands.

Kumar stressed the importance of the historical relations between the two countries and their friendly peoples, and the need to strengthen and push them forward, especially in the commercial, medical, technological, agricultural and educational fields.
