Düsseldorf – New year, new luck: many people use the first few months of the new year to look for new professional challenges.

But which professions are more and more in demand among employers and which are also well paid?

Well-paid trend jobs, especially in the medical and tech sectors

The job platform Indeed found this out in a recent survey.

The annual, percentage growth in job advertisements from January 2019 to December 2022 was analyzed and the trend occupations identified that offer an annual target salary of over 50,000 euros and for which the proportion of advertisements via the platform has at least doubled over the past four years.

The search for .NET developers, i.e. special software developers, has increased particularly strongly.

The percentage of jobs posted in this field has grown 1184 percent over the past four years, making it the biggest jump of any job on Indeed.

Relatively close together in second and third place are the first-aid trainers and practice instructors – training and managerial staff in the healthcare sector.

A table shows an overview of the top 10 trend professions:

The overview suggests that specialists are also in greater demand - and according to the table, they also have the highest salaries in comparison: ophthalmologists can therefore achieve a median annual salary of 125,000 euros.

Annina Hering, Labor Market Economist at Indeed's Hiring Lab, explains: “The labor market remains stable at a high level.

Numerous professions have grown significantly over the last four years.

Some healthcare and tech jobs are seeing the biggest increases.”

While there has been a lack of staff here for years, the expert now also sees “a nationwide shortage of workers”: “Therefore, job seekers currently have good opportunities in numerous sectors and areas – not just in these trend jobs, but in these in particular.”

What is the difference between median and average income?

Median income is not the same as average income.

In the median income, exactly 50 percent earn more and 50 percent less.

The median thus shows the middle better than the average because super earners would distort the value upwards.

Shortage of skilled workers in many areas - higher salaries expected for 2023

But not only are skilled workers in many areas in demand - salaries are also expected to rise more sharply across the board after the real wage losses due to inflation: in 2023 the Ifo Institute and the personnel service provider Randstad expect wages to rise by 5.5 percent, reports the

Handelsblatt

.

Almost 1,000 HR managers took part in the Ifo-Randstad survey, the newspaper said.
