Continuous efforts by university and institute students in As-Suwayda governorate to volunteer with various initiatives in support of those affected by the earthquake, and an affirmation of solidarity and cooperation between members of the Syrian society and the high sense of national and humanitarian responsibility during these difficult circumstances.

The initiatives, according to Wafaa al-Aflaq, the head of the National Union of Syrian Students branch in As-Suwayda, started from the first day of the earthquake and are still continuing. A youth volunteer team was formed, and the number of its members reached about 475 male and female students from different regions of the governorate. It played a role in preparing, sorting and organizing relief aid. And loading them within the aid convoys sent from the governorate to the affected governorates, as well as delivering food baskets to families coming from the affected governorates and helping them in coordination with those concerned in the governorate to find the necessary housing for them.

Al-Aflaq indicated that, in parallel with the work of the volunteer team, blood donation campaigns have been launched, in addition to coordinating with transport companies and the local community to secure the transfer of As-Suwayda students studying in the affected governorates to the governorate free of charge, and preparations are currently being made to transfer them back to their colleges for free, with the return of exams there in the coming days.

And the students of As-Suwayda, as mentioned by Al-Aflaq, used to be at the forefront of volunteers, and they work daily to carry out their duty towards our people in the affected governorates, as the harsh weather conditions in the governorate did not deter them, especially during the first days of the earthquake and the difficulty of transportation.

Among the initiatives of the students of As-Suwayda, according to the head of the Voluntary Work and Social Activity Office in the Student Union branch, Marah Azzam, is the “We are all people” campaign, in which in-kind donations of foodstuffs, clothes, medicines and blankets are collected by the students themselves and the local community, and they are received on a regular basis according to official receipts. Stamped with the seal of the union to be sent to those affected in coordination with the Executive Office of the Student Union and the union’s branches in the affected governorates.

Azzam pointed out the importance of the students' initiatives as a national, moral and humanitarian duty, a right of the parents over their families, and a message to the whole world to confirm that the Syrian people are one.

According to the student in the Fourth College of Sciences and the head of the student administrative body in it, Ammar Amer, he joined the student volunteer team after the earthquake occurred with all the will to work and with multiple initiatives aimed at providing assistance to the affected families, while the head of the student body in the Fourth College of Economics described Marah Ballan as a case of cooperation and collective work among the students To collect and process donations and deliver aid to those who deserve it.

Nawaf Abu Ahmed, a student at the Faculty of Law, explained how volunteers spend long hours from early morning until night to carry out initiatives with every humanitarian and patriotic motive, while a student at the Faculty of Information, Diana Hamza, explained the mechanism of their organized work and their field visits to affected families who came from Aleppo and provide them with assistance and check on their safety. their conditions.
