One of the 12 boys who were trapped in a flooded cave in Thailand four years ago and were rescued in a complex procedure about two weeks later died today (Wednesday) in Britain.
The circumstances of his death have not yet been clarified, but several relevant sources said that the boy was found unconscious in his room in the dormitory of the academy where he studied - and his death was determined when he was rushed to the hospital.
Duangpech Phromthep served as the captain of the Thai football team "Cave Boys", and attended a football academy in the UK.
The former captain and coach of the Thai national team, whose foundation helped the boy get a scholarship to the academy he attended, described him as a polite and kind gentleman who dreamed of playing for his country.
"I wanted to see his dream come true. Rest well now," the coach paid tribute to him in a post he published on his Instagram account.

The rescue operation from the flooded cave in northern Thailand ended about four and a half years ago, after 12 boys and their soccer coach were trapped in it for more than two weeks.
This, after they entered the cave - which was suddenly flooded a short time later due to rain that began to fall.
They were found nine days later 4 kilometers from the entrance to the cave, when the complicated rescue operation that was widely covered by the media began, during which a Thai diver died.
