Deir Ezzor, SANA- The governorate of Deir Ezzor showed that the damage suffered by the governorate as a result of the earthquake that struck Syria

Deir ez-Zor governorate indicated that the damage suffered by the governorate as a result of the earthquake that struck Syria was limited to the collapse of the third communication center building in the Al-Ammal neighborhood, which is an abandoned building, in addition to cracks and partial and minor collapses in some buildings within the liberated neighborhoods.

The governor of Deir ez-Zor, Fadel Najjar, confirmed in a statement to SANA reporter that since the first minutes of the earthquake, the governorate made an inventory of the structures damaged by the previous terrorist acts, showing the impact of the earthquake on them, evacuating the residents from the damaged buildings, developing a full mobilization plan for the buildings that are about to fall, and setting up a shelter plan. And work to equip three shelter centers in the city.

4 buildings were evacuated after the Structural Safety Committee inspected them, and their residents were secured within the shelter.

Najjar added: “The violating buildings were followed up by the committees formed in this regard, facilitating the procedures for licensing buildings, emphasizing adherence to the licenses granted, and instructing the study authorities to note the necessary procedures for the limits of safety from earthquakes in the new buildings.”

And he continued: “Precautions were taken to address the issue of cracked buildings, by the committees and at full speed, and to follow up the reality of the damaged government buildings, and conduct an inspection on them to indicate their status after the earthquake, pointing out that the administrative units, mayors, and neighborhood committees have identified occupied buildings that pose a danger to their owners.” Emphasis was placed on strengthening health centers and hospitals, and mobilizing health personnel to receive any emergency cases.

On the relief level, the governor explained that a relief convoy provided by the people of Deir ez-Zor was sent to the affected people in the governorates of Aleppo, Hama and Lattakia, which included 8 trucks loaded with relief materials, and work is underway to prepare other convoys and send them to the affected people in the stricken governorates.
