Ellmau – ZDF will be showing new episodes of “Der Bergdoktor” until February 23 – after the big season finale “Der Weg zurück” fans will have to wait for more adventures from Ellmau.
Until then, the life of Dr.
Martin Gruber (Hans Sigl, 53) very dramatically, because an old secret threatens to destroy his family happiness forever.
Not a secret: the affair of Bergdoktor Martin Gruber and Sonja has been known since the first season
Anyone who has tuned in regularly since the start of broadcasting on February 6, 2008 will certainly remember a big “Bergdoktor” revelation from the first season.
Because Lilli (Ronja Forcher, 26) is actually not the daughter of Hans Gruber (Heiko Ruprecht, 50), but his brother Martin, who had an affair with his deceased sister-in-law Sonja.
But what came to light 16 years later: Martin and Sonja had a secret relationship for months and wanted to elope to New York together – where Lisbeth Gruber's eldest son (Monika Baumgartner, 71) finally moved alone.

In the new “Bergdoktor” episodes, this revelation causes great drama in the Gruber house – as a particularly attentive fan explains on Instagram, a small logic error seems to have crept in.
Because that Sonja and he once wanted to go to New York together, Martin revealed to his brother Hans at the beginning of the first season.
"Why is that a huge secret again?" wonders the fan, "Bad scriptwriters for not researching it," complains another.
Hans Sigl's secret guest role in "Der Bergdoktor"
Since 2008, Hans Sigl has embodied the title hero Martin Gruber in "Der Bergdoktor".
The exciting life of the country doctor inspires millions of loyal fans with every episode and has made his actor one of the biggest stars of German television.
But what very few people know: the role as the son of Lisbeth Gruber is not Hans Sigl's first Bergdoktor appearance.
Because ten years before he slipped into the white doctor's coat, he was already seen as a taxi driver in the popular series that was still running on Sat.1 at the time and in which Gerhard Lippert, a completely different mountain doctor, was the focus.
Who knows - maybe an extra from the ZDF remake will one day succeed Hans Sigl?

"I was hoping that she would come with me": Bergdoktor Martin Gruber wanted to go to New York with Hans' wife
In the second "Bergdoktor" episode "Am Scheideweg" in February 2008, the bomb burst and Hans was confronted with the fact that Martin is the father of his daughter - which led to a heated argument between the two.
"I asked Sonja to come to Munich, we wanted to say goodbye," Martin explains of his relationship with Hans' deceased wife, "And to be honest, I was hoping at the time that she would come to New York with me."

The fact that he had a love affair with Lilli's mother for months instead of a one-night stand has been kept secret by Martin Gruber for all these years, that he wanted to go to New York with her, but it actually seems to have been known for 16 years.
However, it is quite possible that Hans ignored and suppressed this small detail despite all the shock about Martin and Sonja's affair.

Even if part of Martin's secret has long been known to the viewers - in Ellmau, which is otherwise so peaceful, it has done a lot of damage in recent episodes.
For Martin and his family, the house blessing is lopsided, the country doctor has to leave the Gruberhof and wants to move to New York for a while.
But in the "Bergdoktor" season finale everything turns out very differently and the Grubers' story ends with a fight, tears and hospital.
