This is a beautiful, calm and pleasant penthouse apartment in the center of the country, designed and planned by Dorit Sela , with deep thought about creating a pleasant space, minimalist design, and how to hide and obscure everything we don't want to see.

The contractor's apartment was purchased in the center of the country and a father lives in it with his teenage son.

The father turned to the interior designer Dorit Sela to plan and design the apartment for them, following many years of acquaintance between them (in fact, Sela also designed the previous family home).

A design that resulted from a deep thought about how to hide and obscure everything you don't want to be seen.

The apartment covers an area of 160 square meters and in addition it is surrounded by a huge balcony of 120 square meters.

"The thinking," Sela explains, "was first and foremost to create a calm and warm home. It's not for nothing that the very pleasant and calm colors were chosen, reminiscent of the shades of the desert, alongside the rounded walls that create a relaxed and enveloping feeling."

The rounded lines of the walls at the meeting with the ceiling were created by rock using a special plaster.

The contractor's apartment, which had 5 rooms in its original plan, was specially adapted to the needs of the owner and his son.

When entering the house, we enter through a standard front door from the outside, which on the inside is covered with oak veneer, with a wide paneling that continues the wall and actually has the function of hiding two interior doors, one leading to the guest bathroom and the other leading to the teenager's room.

The guest services, in contrast to the warm concept of the project, are of a dramatic design, in dark tones, with a free-standing sink in a black shade, CUSTOM MADE cabinets in an amorphous form and covering with a unique texture.

When entering the apartment, we meet the public space.

On its left side is a large, half-transparent carpentry element that serves as a wine library and its function is to separate the kitchen from the secondary living room, which is the family corner.

The family corner, designed with an intimate and pleasant touch, is actually a continuation of the kitchen.

Sela says that this is the owner's favorite corner, where he often stretches out, takes a break, and watches TV.

The rounded connections between the walls and the ceiling were made using a special plaster work.

In the kitchen, a wall of tall cupboards covered with wood, which continues in the shape of an "R" towards the family corner.

This carpentry cube that serves as the kitchen, but it also hides a utility room and audio systems inside.

In front of the wall of tall cabinets stands a large gray island, with a built-in sink and stove and high seating around it.

Similar to the public space, also in the kitchen the wall is rounded towards the ceiling (using plaster), which creates a more refined and softer space.

Behind the high cabinets of the kitchen is the laundry room, which is accessed through hidden doors at zero line.

The balcony, which as mentioned occupies an important volume in the house, surrounds the house and can be accessed from several places in the house: from the kitchen, from the master suite and of course from the living room.

Each of the exits to the balcony has a different function: at the exit from the master suite is the jacuzzi, from the kitchen we see the waterfall, and next to the living room are the outdoor kitchen and the sitting area, where the separation between the inside and the outside is blurred by huge showcases.

The living room and dining area are nearby.

It is a spacious and inviting living room, with plenty of accommodation.

Since the sofa was placed floating in the space, without being attached to the wall - it was important to choose a seating system that would look good from any direction.

"It was important that the back was as beautiful and inviting as the front," says Sela about the choice of the light leather sofa.

Behind the dining area, a functional and design wall was designed with slots, created by cuts at different intervals.

Behind the wall are hidden service hatches for the air conditioner with opening doors that are "swallowed" inside it and a mirror.

The father's bedroom suite includes a bathroom with glass doors that reflect between the spaces.

The bathroom continues the stone tones of the house, using huge 1.5 x 3 meter tiles.

The bathroom cabinet is made of Corian, which combines a luxurious appearance with practical durability.

In front of the bed is the wall of the bathroom that functions as a closet. And as mentioned, there is also access to the balcony from the suite - which leads directly to the cozy and inviting jacuzzi corner.
