How is the weather in Munich in spring and summer?

The first rough models give a clear trend.

A meteorologist classifies.

Munich – You can tell: the days are getting longer again, the temperatures are slowly but steadily rising.

Winter is on the home stretch in Munich and the region.

This sometimes brought icy temperatures and plenty of snow, but the past few weeks and months were mostly too mild, and records were even broken at the turn of the year, also affecting the animal world.

In times of climate change, such deviations are no longer a surprise, but is there a risk of a spring that is too warm again this year, or even a hot summer?

A meteorologist gives a first, cautious outlook.

Weather trend for spring and summer - meteorologist explains "clear trend"

Alban Burster, meteorologist from

wetter.com

, states directly: "The long-term models provide a clear trend for Munich and the region", but at the same time makes it clear that this is of course very uncertain, since the deviations in long-term forecasts are always large can.

"It will continue to be rather too warm in the spring," explains Burster nonetheless.

According to the current state of affairs, spring seems to bring high temperatures again very early in the year, but beware: “Cold snaps can still occur into May.

The past year provides the best example.

Despite an overall warm spring and summer, April was cold and snowy here in Munich at the beginning.”

Warm spring and hot summer?

Expert looks at Munich weather in the coming months

The models provide rough trends well into the future, which become more and more uncertain the longer they look ahead.

And yet you can already take a cautious look towards summer.

“In the summer, we are likely to have more summer days than cool and wet days.

But that's no wonder given the climate change," the meteorologist continued.

The models show temperature deviations of one to two degrees.

“But the weak winter of 22/23 will now be more and more goodbye and retreat day by day in the higher altitudes of the Alps.

In the coming days we will already be experiencing pre-spring-like moments here in Munich with a lot of sunshine at times.”

So it remains to be seen to what extent the early forecasts will be confirmed in the course of the year.

However, a spring and summer that was too warm again would not be a surprise - the German Weather Service

is also

expecting a new "normal" for the region in the coming years - according to which Munich could then expect a climate that previously existed in northern Italy, for example.
