The family dog was only 30 meters from the house - dead. The head and tail were missing.
The drama already happened at the weekend, as the police in Weimar (Thuringia) announced on Wednesday.

The little dog – a Chihuahua – had disappeared without a trace on Saturday evening.
Apparently unusual behavior.
"Because the family owns a house in the woods, the Chihuahua was able to roam freely around the property but always returned to it," police said.
Less than 24 hours later, the dog owner found the missing animal around 10 a.m. on Sunday.
A family hunter friend ruled out that a predator could be responsible for the death and mutilation of the little dog.
Now the police are investigating.

Veterinarians examine the dog's carcass
According to the police, the dead dog was secured and taken to the State Office for Veterinary Medicine in Bad Langensalza to clarify the cause of death.
Only then can we finally say whether the Chihuahua was torn by a wild animal or whether an animal hater severed its head and tail.
