The Carso company (which is currently working on rebranding under the name Frisbee), announces the start of marketing of the new Renault Austral in Israel.
Austral occupies Renault's range of models, the Cadger, which has been marketed here since 2015 and was not really a success.

The new model, which shares a platform and a number of assemblies in common with Nissan and Mitsubishi models, joins the category of family recreational vehicles, which is currently considered the leading category in the Israeli car market (about 90 thousand deliveries last year) and is expected to have a tough competition here.

The Australian developed the third generation of the CMF-CD platform (which also serves the new Qashqai) which was adapted for use in hybrid drive units.
It features a modern exterior design and a more up-to-date cabin compared to the outgoing Kedgar.
Among other things, there is a digital dashboard "12.3" and multimedia with a vertical screen "12" that includes wired connectivity for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
All models have a safety specification that includes most of the safety systems popular today, and the car also has a full score of 5 stars in the European crash test.
However, the comfort equipment is not impressive in the entry-level versions and only improves in the more expensive versions.
The offer of engines in Israel will include the familiar 1.33 L turbo engine with a mild hybrid reinforcement (Mild Hybrid) in a basic version that produces 140 hp and 26.5 kgm, and in a more reinforced version that produces 158 hp and 27.5 kgm, Both with a continuous automatic transmission.
Acceleration to 100 km/h takes 10 seconds and 9.7 seconds (respectively) and the maximum speed is 174 km/h.

The top version of the model family in Israel will be the Australian E-TECH hybrid, equipped with a 1.2 L 3-cylinder turbo engine and an electric motor.
These produce a combined power of 200 hp and are mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The acceleration to 100 km/h here is 8.4 seconds, the maximum speed is 175 km/h and the fuel consumption declared by the manufacturer is 21.7 km per liter on average.
Renault Austral prices in Israel range from NIS 175,000-200,000 for the turbo gasoline version, while the price of the hybrid E-TECH version is set at NIS 250,000.
With such pricing, against established and strong competitors from more popular brands in Israel, Austral is expected to have a difficult life in the local market.
