Today, Speaker of the People's Assembly, Hamouda Sabbagh, received a number of telegrams, letters, and phone calls from the heads of the councils and parliaments of brotherly and friendly countries, and a number of official figures, through which they express their solidarity, support, sympathy, and standing by Syria in the face of the humanitarian catastrophe caused by the devastating earthquake.
Telegrams, letters and communications were received from the Speaker of the Shura Council of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, from the Speaker of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin, from the Chairman of the Republican Council of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Natalia Kochanova, from the Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Leonid Slutsky and from Chargé d'Affairs at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Damascus, Yassin Sharif Al-Hujaimi.
In a related context, messages of solidarity and condolence for the victims of the devastating earthquake were received by the People's Assembly from Leonid Slutsky, Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, to the Chairman of the Syrian-Russian Parliamentary Friendship Committee in the People's Assembly, on behalf of Sudan, and from the Chairman of the Working Group of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus for cooperation with Parliament. In the Syrian Arab Republic, Igor Komarovsky, to the Chairman of the Syrian-Belarusian Parliamentary Friendship Committee in the Parliament, Ayman Ahmed, and from the Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Friendship Association of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Syrian Arab Republic, Abbas Kalro, to the Deputy Chairman of the Syrian-Iranian Parliamentary Friendship Committee in the People’s Assembly, Haifa Juma.
