Explosions in the Kyiv region following an Iranian suicide drone attack (Telegram)
The United States military said tonight (Wednesday) that it shot down an Iranian-made drone in northeastern Syria. According to the Central Command of the United States military, the unmanned aerial vehicle was on a reconnaissance mission in the skies over one of its bases in the country. American forces have remained deployed in the area since assisting the Kurdish forces to defeat the "Islamic State" organization, and from time to time they are involved in incidents against the pro-Iranian militias.
According to sources in the US administration, Iran has become a world drone power, and it is using the war in Ukraine to display their capabilities.
Despite Tehran and Moscow's denials, Washington revealed intelligence that found evidence that the same aircraft attacking targets across Ukraine were also used in attacks in the Middle East - including one for which Iran claimed responsibility.
According to the Guardian, an intelligence review by the intelligence services showed how Iran turned from a regional player in the field of drones into Russia's main military supporter. It was recently reported that the two allies, subject to Western sanctions, are planning to jointly establish a factory for the production of drones on Russian territory.
