Other investigations into the story of Tiziana Cantone, the 31-year-old found lifeless, with a scarf around her neck, on 13 September 2016, in her mother's home, in Casalnuovo (Naples), and whose death was linked to the diffusion on the net without her knowledge some personal videos that portrayed her.
New investigations were ordered by the Judge for preliminary investigations of North Naples Raffaele Coppola, who accepted the opposition presented by the lawyers of Teresa Giglio, mother of the victim, against the request for dismissal by the Public Prosecutor's Office.
Giglio's lawyers, Gianluca Condrò, Stefano Marcialis and Emiliano Iasevoli, have in fact opposed the conclusion reached a few months ago by the public prosecutor Giovanni Corona, who after having opened a file for voluntary homicide against unknown persons, having had the body and having ordered that autopsy examination never carried out on the remains of the young woman, he returned to the very first hypothesis, that of suicide by hanging, deeming the path of murder, according to what emerged from the autopsy, not feasible.
Corona then requested the archiving of the investigating magistrate, as had happened for the first file opened by the Prosecutor of Naples North in 2016 after the fact, in which instigation to suicide linked to Tiziana's hardcore videos that ended up on the net was hypothesized.
Tiziana Cantone was found by her aunt when she was already dead.
After the intervention of the carabinieri and the coroner, the fact was immediately classified as suicide, and no autopsy was performed on her body.
However, the mother never believed in this hypothesis, and fought to find out the truth, believing, as put on paper by the forensic biologist Vincenzo Agostini, that the scarf could not have killed Tiziana by strangulation, and that the position of the body made it "dangling with consequent asphyxiation" is impossible.
For the investigating magistrate Coppola, "the skeletal state of the body, exhumed in May 2021 five years after her death, makes any assessment of the advice of the prosecutor and the offended party impossible", or on the medical-legal reports made on the remains of the 31-year-old;
while the consultancies relating to the dynamics of death have value, which have cast doubt on the hypothesis of suicide, so much so that, writes the investigating magistrate, "one can hypothesize an asphyxiated method attributable to strangulation on a par with suffocation from suicide".
Also decisive was the point made by the consultants appointed by Teresa Giglio's three lawyers, namely the coroners Vittorio Fineschi and Aniello Maiese, according to which the consultants of the Public Prosecutor's Office failed to carry out the examination of the so-called "vitality of the sulcus" during the autopsy , which can tell whether death is caused "by a hanging or strangulation mechanic".
So for the investigating judge, the thesis of suicide does not prevail over that of homicide, for which the Public Prosecutor must carry out "new investigations within 90 days and appoint an expert who, analyzing the exercise equipment, the scarf and the position in which the Cantone has been found, can, through judicial experiment, ascertain their compatibility with a death by asphyxiation from hanging".
