The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, discussed with the Regional Director of the United Nations Population Fund for the Arab Countries, Laila Bakr, and the accompanying delegation, the existing cooperation between the Fund and the various parties in Syria, especially with regard to facing the repercussions of the earthquake that hit Syria last week.
During the meeting, Bakr offered her condolences to Syria and to the families of the victims of the devastating earthquake, stressing that the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) will make every possible effort to provide aid to the affected areas.
In turn, Minister Al-Miqdad presented the repercussions of the earthquake on the stricken governorates, pointing out that this devastating earthquake came after twelve years of the terrorist war on Syria, in addition to the negative effects of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on it, which prevented the Syrians from securing the necessary equipment to confront this humanitarian catastrophe, stressing Syria's keenness to deliver humanitarian aid to all Syrians throughout the Syrian territory.
The meeting was attended by Qusai Al-Dahhak, Director of the International Organizations and Conferences Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, and the rest of the delegation members.
