US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will also fly to Turkey during his European trip.

He plans to visit NATO's Incirlik air base on February 19 to see relief efforts following the massive earthquake in Turkey and Syria, the US State Department said on Wednesday.

So far, many countries, including Germany, have provided financial aid for the crisis areas, among other things.

Blinken is one of the first foreign ministers to travel to the area affected by the earthquake, ahead of Germany and France.

Blinken will then travel to Ankara to meet his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.

Aid over $85 million

The USA has pledged 85 million dollars (almost 80 million euros) for earthquake aid in Turkey and Syria.

The State Department said there were almost 200 rescue workers and 12 search dogs from the United States in the earthquake area.

The aid will be handled through Incirlik Air Force Base.

Last week, several severe earthquakes shook the border region between Turkey and Syria.

Tens of thousands of people have been killed by earthquakes in the region so far.
