The city of Lyon has just announced a payment of €50,000 to support organizations helping the victims of the earthquake which occurred on February 6 in the region of Gaziantep, on the border between Turkey and Syria.
While the balance sheet to date shows nearly 40,000 dead and 26 million people affected, the municipality wishes by this gesture "
to express all its solidarity with the victims of this tragedy and wishes to make its contribution to the humanitarian aid which is unfolding
”.
Of these €50,000, €40,000 will be donated to Alliance Urgences, an association bringing together six French NGOs (Action contre la Faim, Care, Handicap International, Médecins du Monde, Plan International and Solidarités International) and €10,000 to Roja Sor - Soleil Rouge France, French branch of the Kurdish Red Crescent network.
The allocation of these subsidies will be submitted to the vote of elected municipal officials at the next meeting of the Municipal Council which will take place on March 9.
