Two young women threw themselves Thursday, February 16 in the morning from a bridge overlooking the gorges in Cruseilles (Haute-Savoie) and died, we learned from a source familiar with the matter.
The two women were in their thirties and one was of French nationality and the other Swiss.
The facts occurred from the site of the Caille bridges, which overlook the Usses gorges at great height.
Firefighters, present nearby for a training session, could not do anything to prevent the tragedy, the same source said.
The bodies were recovered during the day.

The Thonon-les-Bains prosecutor's office has "
opened an investigation into the causes of death and entrusted the continuation of the investigations to the Cruseilles gendarmerie brigade
", the prosecutor of Thonon-les-Bains told AFP. Bruno Badre.
According to the
Dauphiné Libéré
, the two women knew each other, unrelated, and had come to Cruseilles in the same vehicle.
The site of the Caille bridges is "
sadly famous for being the regular scene of desperate gestures
" with around fifteen suicides each year on average, according to the newspaper.
