Muhammad Abu-Shariki, one of the leaders of the struggle, told Walla!: "We called a strike in all the businesses and schools in Lod, following the two murders yesterday. The police are not doing enough against crime, every week there is a shooting in Lod. Crime is raising its head because the security forces are not doing enough We plan to hold another demonstration and strike."

Abu Shariki also called on the Jewish residents of the city to take part in the strike: "This is the struggle of all of us."

The city resident expressed frustration with the situation.

"It's terrible what's happening in Lod in recent years, it's hard for me to see a future here for my child. I don't see that change will come."

He said in frustration and added: "People do everything for money. They kill, steal, kill for the sake of sabotage. It used to not be like that."

According to him, as someone who grew up in Lod, he had quite a few opportunities to join the world of crime, from which he always kept his distance.

Since the visit of the Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gabir to the city less than a month ago, in which he promised to eradicate the phenomenon of crime and violence, four murders have occurred.

The person who visited the city council meeting today was Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich who promised to strengthen the police in the upcoming budget "in an unprecedented way that hasn't been here for decades. I don't want to go into details because it is ultimately the responsibility of the Minister of National Security, but we are working for a significant salary increase and bringing in a force A quality person for the police under good conditions and send them to the most challenging places."

However, even during the visit to which Ben Gvir arrived, following a "sequence of nationalist and criminal events", the minister, who then held a situation assessment in the presence of the mayor and the Commissioner, promised a detailed plan "for the war against the perpetrators of crime". However, although he chose to focus on "nationalist events" according to him , since his visit, two Jewish women have been murdered, one by her husband, and the other by a Jewish neighbor. Despite his statements, no action was taken after these two murders, and yesterday two more murders occurred within a few hours. Yesterday, a man known to the police was killed in a car explosion, and

several Hours later, about 300 meters from the area where the car exploded, another person was shot dead.
