The Iranian army had unveiled at the beginning of February its first underground base capable of accommodating fighter planes and resisting possible American bombardments.

The Iranian Air Force had released images at the beginning of February of its new underground base called Eagle-44.

With the capacity to receive fighter planes, bombers and drones, state television had boasted of a base in the heart of the Zagros mountains, "

several hundred meters deep

", without revealing the exact location of the new facility.

But analyzes from open source intelligence (OSINT) have made it possible to locate this new secret base, as indicated by the

From the official images provided by Iran and where we can see certain entrances to the underground air base, the expert has thus cross-checked with satellite images the probable location of the base.

In May 2022, Iran had already shown images of a drone base located in the Zagros mountains in the west of the country for the first time.

Iran also began developing drone programs in the 1980s during the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988).

In early February, a military site of the Ministry of Defense in Isfahan (center) was targeted by quadcopter drones, which caused no casualties, only "minor damage

"

according to the ministry.

The Iranian ambassador to the United Nations then accused Israel of being "

responsible

" for this attack, which follows a series of sabotages and assassinations attributed to this country.

The two countries have been waging a latent war for years, Israel accusing Iran - which denies it - of wanting to acquire the atomic bomb.
