The Secretary for Home Affairs and Youth Affairs, Mai Meijuan, and the Director of the Home Affairs Department, Zhang Zhao Kaiyu, arrived in Singapore this afternoon (16th) to visit the People's Association known as the "Singapore Street Office", and the People's Association's executive director Zhuo Rongneng Meet and discuss matters such as building community networks, promoting social cohesion and providing regional services between the two places.
The People's Association is a statutory body established in 1960. It has more than 1,800 cooperative groups. It has HDB Residents' Committees, Apartment Neighborhood Committees and Residents' Network under its jurisdiction to organize community activities.
The People's Association briefed Mak Mei Kuan on Singapore's experience in connecting communities through different platforms, including community development councils and community clubs, and exchanged views on Hong Kong's work in regional governance.
