Engineer Hussein Makhlouf, Minister of Local Administration and Environment, Chairman of the Higher Committee for Relief, discussed with Dato Norman Muhammad, First Secretary-General, Assistant Minister of Bilateral Relations of Malaysia, and his accompanying delegation, the assistance that the Malaysian side can provide within the framework of the humanitarian response to face the repercussions and damages caused by the earthquake that hit Syria.

Minister Makhlouf affirmed the Syrian people's pride in the historical relations and friendship that bind the two countries, pointing to the possibility of benefiting from the Malaysian expertise in such emergency situations, especially since Syria emerged from a terrorist war that destroyed and damaged the infrastructure.

Regarding the situation in the governorates affected by the earthquake, the minister explained that we have moved from the emergency response phase to the phase of sustainable development and work to secure those who left their homes with temporary housing units, while providing their living requirements, in parallel with working to assess the buildings that were damaged.

And cracks to verify its structural integrity, indicating the need for equipment and supplies that help in the process of construction and reconstruction in various sectors, stressing the provision of all necessary facilities for the entry of Malaysian aid and its transfer to the affected governorates to be distributed under the supervision of the Sub-Committee for Relief.

For his part, the head of the Malaysian delegation stressed the importance of the bilateral relations that bring the two countries together and hoped that this visit would be the first stage to strengthen and strengthen relations, indicating that the reason for his visit is to stand on the ground and assess the damages and know the necessary needs to discuss the possibility of presenting them in various fields, especially in the health field, explaining that During the visit, the reopening of the Malaysian Embassy in Damascus will be discussed.

The Malaysian delegation includes representatives of various government agencies and some Malaysian non-governmental organizations.
