"Unjustified Sentence"

Four years after the tragic altercation, Wasim B., 23, appeared free for complicity in murder at the Nice Court Assize Court last week.

The Advocate General had requested 12 years in prison against him.

The verdict was much firmer: he was sentenced to 15 years of criminal imprisonment, his gesture having been requalified as the co-action of the murder.

With Me Rozenna Gorlier, they decided to appeal.

“He admitted the acts of violence but he never intended to kill

, insists his lawyer.

This sentence is unjustified and too linked to the emotion of this case.

If we managed to give a measured sentence at first instance, we would not end up having to make a painful new trial for the victim's family.

She will defend the release of her client regarding the murder.

For his part, the murderer's lawyer, Me Christian Scolari, went to the Grasse remand center on Wednesday to find out if his client Kévin R. also wanted to appeal.

He was sentenced to 30 years in prison, the maximum sentence.

At the end of the hearing, the lawyer had suggested the possibility of appearing before the court of appeal of another city.

“We didn't want to hear anything about the realities of the case,

he was sorry.

I see in this quantum an invitation to present our case elsewhere.

We might get it.”

Kevin R.'s mother is in favor of continuing the legal proceedings in order to reduce the sentence to 20 years.

The murderer is still hesitating.

He only has until Monday to decide.
