Opinion Ben Gvir climbs the walls Israel today

2023-02-16T22:12:07.313Z

"With most of his brazenness" this week the minister in charge of law enforcement tried to enforce it, and to demolish illegal buildings in East Jerusalem • But Netanyahu had more urgent tasks: demolition that perpetuates the discrimination of Yosh Jews - and construction that will keep alive his vision for a Palestinian state

At the beginning of the week, the Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir, was placed on the hotline.

His announcements about the Magen 2 Wall in East Jerusalem were blocked by the Prime Minister and widely ridiculed in the media.

But those who want to begin to understand why Itamar climbs the walls, should leave Jerusalem towards the Dead Sea.

At the beginning of the descents, on the hill to the left, he will notice a neighborhood of high-rise buildings, threatening to burst from the density of the adjacent towers.

Please know, this is Ras al-Khamis, a Jerusalem neighborhood five minutes from the national headquarters of the police.

It's just that all the houses in Ras al-Khamis were built against the law, without permits, without approved plans, against every regulation and standard.

It starts with the planning and construction laws and various safety regulations, but continues with the fact that the houses, for the most part, were built on other people's land.

There, as in other places in East Jerusalem, many of the buildings were built on land belonging to the state, the municipality, or even other Arab residents whose property was robbed from them.

The State of Israel has been aware of all this for years, and does nothing.

In most of his brazenness, this week the minister in charge of maintaining the law tried to start enforcing it.

He asked to send police officers to demolish a one-story house, uninhabited, that was built without any permit in the Savachara neighborhood in Jerusalem.

Last week he tried to enforce the law regarding another apartment building, whose builders and tenants have been shouting about the law for years.

Only the Prime Minister and the Minister of Defense had an urgent and much more important task: to violently uproot 1,100 trees in a Jewish plantation near Shiloh.

It was important to Netanyahu and Gallant to uproot trees belonging to Jews, and to continue to prevent the police from enforcing the law against Arabs in Jerusalem.

Ben Gvir did speak about Magen Wall 2, but he did not mean the adoption of the measures of the 2002 operation - but the mindset of changing the rules of the game, for the return of Israel's full rule also over the Arabs in Jerusalem as part of the fight against terrorism

Netanyahu acted again this week as he has been doing since 1996, aligning himself with the heads of the defense establishment, who are forbidden in the mental shackles of the Oslo Accords.

They allow the Arabs to take control of the territory and put a border on us, and on the other hand they use a harsh and cruel hand against the Jews of Yosh. Ben Gvir did talk about Magen Wall 2, but he did not mean to take the same measures of the 2002 operation, but to the mindset. The mindset of general changes The game, which will restore the full rule of the State of Israel also over the Arabs in Jerusalem, as part of the fight against terrorism.

The rules of the game formulated in the last generation in Jerusalem belong to another planet.

A planet of breaking the law, crime, robbery and whistleblowing on the government and society.

And by the way, those who suffer from this mainly are the Arabs of the capital themselves.

This is not the case only in Ras al-Khamis - this happens along the road leading to the neighborhoods of Pisgat Ze'ev and Neve Ya'akov.

In the last 20 years, several neighborhoods have sprung up here with about 80 thousand people - all of them were built against the law, while taking over private and public property.

Beyond Neve Ya'akov stretches another Jerusalem neighborhood - Kfar Aqab, which has become a city of illegal high-rise buildings that are frighteningly close to each other.

And what has the Likud State of Israel been doing for years?

Although the chaos and lack of law enforcement flows directly from crime to terrorism.

This week the media finally started to notice that it is incitement that makes boys and young men want to kill us.

But the elementary decisions that the government needs to make in this matter were not even discussed.

Not a word about the necessity of arresting the great instigators, the Fatah activists in Jerusalem, the mufti, the leaders of the Palestinian Authority's education system and incitement, those who plant in their heads the ideas of murder against us. Harsh words were exchanged between Netanyahu and Gabir, and the minister - who was chosen on the basis of the promise of governance - remained Very frustrated. Frustrated by the attitude of the Prime Minister and the security establishment, frustrated by what he found in the police: no action plans, no serious intelligence material, no clue to change the equation of governance and terrorism. He found himself almost the only one unwilling to accept the old rules of the game, but still climbing the walls

The order of evil

It is hard not to come to the conclusion that Benjamin Netanyahu gave the approval for the displacement of the plantation in Shiloh on Wednesday, on purpose this week.

The goal - to convey to the Americans and Europeans that despite the settlement crumbs he had to scatter at the beginning of the week, he remains the same Netanyahu.

The man who keeps the Palestinian state option for them as always.

It may be that the scenes of severe violence on Wednesday, together with the brink of explosion by the coalition partners, caused the Prime Minister to regret the eve of evacuation.

But even the murmurs of reconciliation and the continuation of the vague promises regarding the coalition commitments did not include the uprooting of one of the bases of evil, the one that caused the uprooting of the trees in the Shiloh Valley.

This is what is known as a "disturbing use order", a very important tool that was formulated against Jewish settlement and is still used by the Civil Administration and the security system.

The destruction of the vineyard in Binyamin begins with a political order carried out by the enemies of the settlement in the prosecutor's office.

The Edmond Levy Committee crowned it a "draconian decree", whose existence "must not be put up with".

And here, the Netanyahu government continues to carry out this evil order

The issue of the trees in Shiloh begins with the same "order regarding disruptive use" issued by the head of the Civil Administration years ago, against the very existence of this plantation.

This is a political order used by the enemies of the settlements in the prosecutor's office, to prevent Jews from relying on the law in Judea and Samaria regarding real estate, to reverse the order of evidence and put them in a legal maze from which it is impossible to get out.

The use of the warrant is usually done in a particularly malicious manner, when I also encountered his ease when talking about the purchase of a private house in Hebron, with full money.

The committee of the late Supreme Court Judge Edmond Levy crowned this order as a "draconian order", which "a reformed legal system must not accept its existence". Judge Levy wrote that "the creators of the order made it their goal to prevent the Israeli settlements in Judea and Samaria from expanding its border." The person who was then the head of the Civil Administration and later the head of the ACA, Major General Moti Elmoz, testified about its use, that it gives an unfair advantage to the Palestinian side.

And here, while the Netanyahu government, for generations, does not enforce final court orders of eviction, for example in Khan al-Ahmar, it continues to uphold this evil order, which it used in the first place to stop the settlement, and as usual, continues to use it on the grounds that it is enforcing the law .

During the week, the ideological parties in the coalition received some "settlement remnants", in the form of the qualification of nine settlements that should have been regulated many years ago by the Netanyahu and Likud governments.

Nine out of about 70, in Washington saw that their location does not prevent the realization of Bibi and Biden's vision of a Palestinian state.

At the same time, planning procedures regarding several thousand houses were released, procedures that, according to the coalition agreement that had just been signed, were supposed to be normalized, like everywhere else in the Land of Israel.

As is his custom, Netanyahu continues to violate the coalition agreements regarding settlements and governance, with creative pretexts and excuses.

This is reflected, among other things, in the violation of the obligations towards Minister Ben Gabir and the failure to transfer the powers to Minister Smotrich.

I wonder how long Netanyahu's ideological partners will continue to hide.
