Commissioner of Police Xiao Zeyi will reach retirement age in April this year. The government announced today (16th) that Xiao Zeyi has been extended for 24 months to April 1, 2025.
A government spokesman said that the purpose of Xiao Zeyi's extension is to facilitate the smooth handover of the police force's management.

Xiao Zeyi was originally scheduled to retire on April 2 this year. The government issued a press release today stating that Xiao Zeyi has been extended for 24 months to April 1, 2025.
Xiao Zeyi joined the Hong Kong Police Force as an inspector in 1988 and was promoted to Senior Superintendent in 2007. He successively served as Deputy Commander of Kwai Tsing Police District and Commander of Airport Police District. After being promoted to Chief Superintendent in 2013, he took over the Kowloon City Police District , and later served as the Chief Superintendent of the Human Resources Division of the Personnel Department.
Xiao Zeyi was promoted to Assistant Commissioner of Police in 2017, Senior Assistant Commissioner the following year, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) in 2019, and Commissioner of Police in June 2021.
Siu Ze-yi has studied overseas development courses in many institutions, including Tsinghua University, Stanford University, Harvard University and the National School of Administration.
