Tonight (16th) at about 10:48, a subdivided flat on the 5th floor of Tang, 164 Tai Po Road, Sham Shui Po emitted smoke.
The firefighters arrived at the scene and found that there was no one in the unit, so they broke in and rescued 3 cats. They took them underground and placed them in a cardboard box. The ambulancemen saw that the hair of the 3 cats was blackened, so they put on gloves and carefully wiped off the dust and dirt on them. Check the physical condition, fortunately they are lively and uninjured.
After investigation by the police, the case was reclassified as animal cruelty follow-up, and no one has been arrested yet.
At the same time, staff from the Society for the Protection of Animals have been notified to come to the scene to take care of the three cats temporarily.
The police replied that at 10:48 p.m. on the 16th, they received a report from a resident of No. 164 Tai Po Road, Sham Shui Po, saying that there was smoke coming out of a unit at the address.
Firefighters broke into the unit and quickly extinguished the fire.
After preliminary investigation, it was suspected that the burnt food in the unit caused a fire, and the cause of the fire was not suspicious.
However, officers found three cats in the unit and suspected they were being neglected.
The case is temporarily classified as "cruelty to animals" and is being followed up by the Criminal Investigation Team of the Sham Shui Po Police District. No one has been arrested yet.
The police added that the three cats were found to be in good condition after inspection and were then taken into the care of the Society for the Protection of Animals.
