SUBE 2023 Student Ticket: how to activate it in the City of Buenos Aires to travel for free

2023-02-16T09:29:49.753Z

It serves in buses, subways and the Premetro. Who can access the benefit in CABA and how is the management for trains. Practical Guide.

The

City of Buenos Aires

will have its 2023 school year between February 27 and December 22.

The year started with a sharp increase in public transport fares, but many students will not be affected since they will be able to

travel for free

between home and school, with the

Student Ticket

.

In the Capital, as in the Province of Buenos Aires, this benefit allows

some students

-not all- to use the main means of transportation without paying a ticket.

It is a subsidy that is implemented

through a

special SUBE card and to take advantage of it it is necessary to carry out a procedure every year, in certain cases in person.

Who

is entitled to receive this benefit in the City

?

What

conditions

and what

limits

does it have?

How is the management to obtain it for

the first time

and what should

those who already had it from previous years do to

renew it ?

In this note, an

updated guide

 with answers to the

main questions

about the Student Ticket and everything you need to process it.

With the student ticket, students will be able to travel for free in buses and other means of transportation.

Who can access the Student Ticket in the City of Buenos Aires?

The benefit is limited to students of the Initial levels (4 and 5 year old rooms), Primary and Secondary who attend a

public school

 of the City or a

private one with 100% subsidy

(those that do not charge fees).

It is also granted to public school students of

Special Education

and to those who are finishing high school in

Vocational Training Centers

1 Barracas, 4 Mataderos, 6 Parque Chacabuco, 7 Incucai Núñez, 10 CEC and 34 Salesianos.

CABA Student Ticket: what does the benefit consist of and what days and times can it be used?

The Student Ticket allows up to

50 free monthly trips

-with a maximum of 4 per day- in

buses

,

subways

and the

Premetro

, throughout the metropolitan region (Capital and GBA).

The benefit is only available from

Monday to Friday

, every day between 5:00 and 23:59.

This throughout

the school year

and until December 30, with the sole exception of winter holidays.

How is the Student Ticket processed for the first time in CABA?

At any time of the year you can go to buenosaires.gob.ar/boletoestudiantil, fill out the

registration form

and

request an appointment

to do the process in person at a Community Office.

The student must attend the appointment with their

ID , a

regular student

certificate

and the current SUBE card (if they have one in their name), to receive the

Student SUBE

for free .

This card, before the first use, and for the only time, must

be activated

by supporting it in one of the

SUBE

Automatic Terminals that are in the Communal Headquarters, in the train stations and other points.

To find out which is the closest you can enter this link.

Before the first use, you have to look for a SUBE terminal to activate the card.

How can those who used the Student Ticket last year renew it?

Those who have a Student SUBE processed in previous years

do not need to re-register

or complete the process.

To

reactivate the subsidy

, they only have to support the card in a SUBE Automatic Terminal.

Can the Student SUBE be used on non-school days and times?

yes

.

You can load balance and use it as if it were a common SUBE,

without the subsidy

.

The same happens when you exceed 50 bonus tickets each month.

For their part, those who have

a Social Rate

can also take advantage of it with the SUBE Estudiantil to travel at less than half the cost when free does not apply.

Will the student's family members also be able to travel for free with the SUBE Estudiantil?

No. The card is

personal and non-transferable

, which means that it should only be used by its holder.

That is, the student.

If someone else uses it, they run the risk of having

the benefit suspended

and of receiving a

criminal complaint

, according to a warning from the City Government.

The procedure is done once and allows you to travel without paying until the end of the year.

Is the Student SUBE used to travel for free on Capital trains and the GBA?

No.

To get on the trains of the Sarmiento, Miter, San Martín and Belgrano Sur lines free of charge or with a discount, you have to do a separate procedure.
