Telephone scammers were successful with a pensioner from Taufkirchen with a false promise of prizes.

A family in Dorfen was not fooled by a shock phone call.

Taufkirchen/Dorfen

– Telephone fraudsters were up to mischief in the eastern district on Wednesday.

According to the police, a Taufkirchen pensioner fell for a false promise of prizes and lost 900 euros in the process.

In another case, a sobbing woman contacted a family in Dorfen.

She pretended to be a niece who caused a serious accident.

Then the conversation was taken over by an alleged police officer who demanded a five-figure sum – also payable in gold coins – for the payment of a bail.

A third person posing as a prosecutor reiterated the claim.

But the family ended the call.

The scammers had told the Taufkirchen pensioner that she had won almost 40,000 euros.

To pay out the sum, however, they must advance 900 euros.

The pensioner then purchased value cards for this amount and sent activation codes to the scammers.

Shortly thereafter, they demanded a higher amount.

However, the injured party no longer agreed to this.

She informed the police in Dorfen.
