At least one person was killed and three others were injured in a shooting at a shopping center in the US city of El Paso, Texas.

According to the report, two of them are in critical condition.

Apparently, the police were able to arrest two suspected perpetrators.

"There is no longer any danger to the public," Police Chief Peter Pacillas said.

A gunman shot at bystanders on the Michigan State University campus on Monday.

Three students were killed and five other people were injured.

The perpetrator then shot himself before the police could arrest him.

The motive is still unclear.

Biden is pushing for tougher gun laws

Stricter gun laws have been discussed in the United States for years.

With a view to the Michigan incident, President Joe Biden again called on Congress to pass stricter gun laws.

A week ago, Biden called for a ban on assault rifles in his State of the Union address on Tuesday.

In the United States, there are repeated attacks with guns on bystanders.

According to the Gun Violence Archive website, more than 70 people have died in shootings this year.

Last year there were 647 so-called »mass shootings«.

That's nearly two shootings a day, each with at least four injured and/or dead.

In the past, there had already been several attempts in the USA to restrict gun ownership through stricter laws.

So far without any major success.
