Tourism activities in Tartous governorate sent 6 cars loaded with foodstuffs, detergents and health supplies for children to the earthquake-affected people in Lattakia and Jableh.
The director of tourism in the governorate, Bassam Abbas, said in a statement to SANA that the cars loaded with 600 food baskets and detergents are the second batch for those affected by the tourism sector in the governorate, noting that all tourist facilities in Tartous have placed themselves at the disposal of the concerned authorities and the relief sub-committee, to provide what is necessary. To host the affected people and secure their transfer from the affected governorates to their areas, especially university students.
The Director of Tourism indicated that more than 7,000 meals and more than 1,200 food baskets were provided from tourism activities in the governorate for those affected, explaining that the role of the Directorate is to supervise and organize relief work in coordination with the relief committee and stakeholders to ensure that aid reaches those who deserve it.
For their part, a number of event owners participating in the initiative stressed the importance of community solidarity that characterizes Syria, as mentioned by Ali Kattum, who considered that this initiative stems from the national duty by providing basic materials such as food, health materials and medicines, so that the next stage will be the stage of financial support in a greater way.
Sami Issa pointed out that the tourism sector is an essential participant in various societal activities, especially in the phase of disasters and crises, in order to give the true picture of the Syrian people.
