American fighter jets have intercepted, for the second time this week, four Russian planes near Alaska, the North American Aerospace Defense Command (Norad) announced on Tuesday (February 14th).
This “
routine
” interception of Russian aircraft, including models of the Tu-95 heavy bomber and the Su-30 and Su-35 fighter, took place on Tuesday, Norad said in a statement.
A plane close to American space
This is an operation consisting of escorting a potentially rival aircraft deemed too close to an airspace, or having entered it.

The Russian planes remained in international airspace and did not enter US or Canadian sovereign airspace
," he added.

An interception operation had already been carried out on Monday February 13 concerning, already, four Russian planes near Alaska.
Tuesday's operation has no connection with those having led, in the previous days, to the American shootings having shot down three unidentified flying objects.
