Black Hawk helicopter
crashed near a highway
in the southern US state of Alabama.
The tragic episode occurred on the afternoon of Wednesday, February 15, and the
two crew members of the military aircraft died
at the time.
The shocking crash of a helicopter in the US
The helicopter, which belonged to the Tennessee National Guard, was conducting a
training flight
when it crashed near the city of Huntsville, authorities said in a statement.
The
National Guard
is a state military force that is part of the US Army Reserve when activated for federal missions.
"We are
deeply saddened
by the loss of two Tennessee National Guardsmen, and our prayers are with their families during this heartbreaking tragedy," said Brigadier General Warner Ross, head of the Tennessee military in his message.
The helicopter was on a training flight when it went down.

According to Ross, the tragic event occurred during a
flight
training mission .
The helicopter crashed around 3:00 p.m. Alabama time, starting a
massive fire
.
Fortunately,
there were no other service members or civilians injured
in the crash.
In this sense, the Madison County Sheriff's Office stated that
no injuries were reported on the ground
when the aircraft hit the ground.
Similarly,
there were no "survivors"
inside the helicopter either, lamented Brent Patterson, a sheriff's investigator.

The UH-60 crash, better known as the Black Hawk, occurred specifically in the unincorporated community of Harvest, along
Alabama
Highway 53 .

Harvest is just northwest of Huntsville, which is home to

“Maria and I are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of two members of the Tennessee National Guard,” said Tennessee Governor Bill Lee.
And he added: "Join us to join your families in prayer and support during this time of indescribable pain," he asked.
"Governor Lee, Alabama residents will continue to pray for the families affected by this
heartbreaking tragedy
," added Alabama Governor Kay Ivey.
“The guards who lost their lives today

The people of Alabama stand with our neighbors in Tennessee,” he concluded.
The local media showed
large columns of black smoke
rising at the scene.
Multiple emergency vehicles were on the scene.

I am deeply saddened by the fatal helicopter crash that occurred in Madison," said US Representative Dale Strong.
And he ended by saying: "My heart aches for those who lost their lives in this tragic incident and for their families upon hearing this news."
