In a video interview posted to GQ's Youtube account, the actress shares the all-important beauty advice she received from her grandmother. A routine that is debating.

You don't need to bet on an ultra-long beauty routine filled with steps to have beautiful skin, according to Salma Hayek.

The actress prefers minimalism when it comes to skincare.

This is what she reveals in a video interview given to the American magazine

GQ and

published on YouTube on February 10, 2023, where she answers questions and comments from Internet users about her.

“What is Salma Hayek's beauty routine?

This woman is in her 50s and she looks stunning,” one fan wrote in a tweet posted last year.

Rather than listing every product she uses in her bathroom, the 50-year-old shared the most valuable beauty tip she's received and applies every day.

“My grandmother taught me never to wash my face in the morning,” she reveals.

“It's not disgusting, guys!

What happens at night is that your skin produces all the oils your skin needs to look young.

She's regenerating."

And to recommend to the spectators: "Wash your skin well in the evening, but do not wash the hard work of your skin in the morning".

The benefits of facial cleansing

A prescription that has always been the subject of debate among cosmetic professionals and dermatologists.

Admittedly, everyone agrees that cleansing the face in the evening is the essential first step to having beautiful skin.

In fact, it eliminates dead cells, pollution particles, sebum, make-up residues and other impurities accumulated throughout the day, thus avoiding the clogging of pores and a dull complexion.

In addition, it prepares the skin to fully absorb the active ingredients of the treatments applied in order to optimize their results.

But is it necessary to practice it twice a day?

A divisive question

Fervent defenders of cleansing will claim that it is just as essential to repeat this gesture when you wake up to rid the skin of impurities and sebum accumulated during the night.

It also allows you to get rid of the remains of the night cream applied the day before (especially if it is retinol-based, because the active ingredient is not recommended during the day because of its photosensitive action) and to make it more receptive to ingredients contained in the day cream in the morning.

Conversely, followers of “

less is more

” or those in a hurry will tend to skip this step, believing that their skin does not appear “dirty” on the surface.

Some don't feel the need either because of their dry or sensitive skin, fearing to weaken their skin barrier by adding an extra wash.

So who to believe?

The answer obviously depends on each skin type and must be personalized on a case-by-case basis by a doctor.
