A vast anti-drug operation was carried out by the carabinieri in Marsala against three competing groups of drug dealers, each led by a woman.
Carabinieri from the local company, from the Sicily Hunters helicopter squadron, from the Palermo Villagrazia dog unit and from the 12th Sicily Carabinieri Regiment were employed in the blitz.
The precautionary order, issued by the investigating judge of Marsala at the request of the prosecutor, concerns a total of 14 suspects (11 in prison, 2 residence bans in the municipality of Marsala and an obligation to stay), accused, for various reasons, of trafficking and narcotics (crack, heroin and cocaine), extortion, money laundering and personal injury.
The investigations were concentrated in the drug dealing square in the popular district of "Sappusi", in via Virgilio.
According to the investigators, even a young woman who died of an overdose in October 2021 (which was followed by the suicide of her partner) would have stocked up in the past in that "drug dealing square".
