The announcement by Bruce Willis's family that the actor suffers from a type of dementia called frontotemporal dementia (FTD) possibly decrees the end of the Hollywood star's acting career.

Willis thus joins a list of actresses and actors who have paused due to illness.

In the case of Willis, his daughter Rumer Willis had already communicated on March 30, 2022 on Instagram that the "Die Hard" star had been diagnosed with aphasia, "which is impacting his cognitive abilities."

And she added that the actor is "walking away from the career that has meant so much to him."

The diagnosis did not prevent the name of Willis, 67, from appearing in 11 feature films in 2022 and that on January 20 “Detective Knight: Independence” was released directly on the Internet, a film in which the actor plays a brief role.

The 51-year-old actress, nominated in 2019 and 2020 for the Emmy for best comedy actress for the series “Dead to Me”, revealed in August 2021 that she had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

This is an autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system.

It reduces the quality of life of those who suffer from it and can be disabling.

Applegate received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on November 14, 2022, and the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce designated this November date as Christina Applegate Day.

The actor, famous for his participation in the "Back to the Future" saga, was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 1991, when he was just 29 years old.

Since then Fox has made appearances on shows like "The Good Wife," "Boston Legal," "Rescue Me," and "Designated Survivor," among others.

Fox revealed in his memoir "No Time Like the Future" in 2022 that he would no longer be involved in projects that required memorizing pages of dialogue and working long hours.

The actor caused a sensation in October 2022 when he starred in a reunion with actor Christopher Lloyd, his partner in "Back to the Future", at the New York Comic Con.

Star of "Hellboy" and "Cruel Intentions", among others, Blair made her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis public in 2018. The 50-year-old actress premiered the documentary "Introducing, Selma Blair" in 2020, directed by Rachel Fleit, in the one who tells the process of adaptation to his new illness.

"They told me to make plans to die," explains the actress in the trailer.

"Not because I have multiple sclerosis, because I'm fighting multiple sclerosis."

Gene Hackmann

Winner of two Oscars, actor Gene Hackman, 93, retired in 2004 at the age of 74 due to his heart condition.

Although he did not announce his official retirement, the last film in which the actor participated was in "Welcome to Moosport" that year.

Additionally, on January 10, 2012, Hackman was struck by a vehicle while riding a bicycle in Islamorada, Florida, from which he promptly recovered.
