A court in the city of Santa Rosa, La Pampa,
sentenced this Friday Magdalena Espósito Valenti, the mother of Lucio Dupuy, and Abigail Páez, her partner, to life imprisonment for having murdered the 5-year-old boy in that pampean city in November 2021.
After learning of the verdict, criminal lawyer Hugo López Carribero spoke with
Los Primeros de la Tarde on CNN Radio
and said that "the two defendants have already been found guilty and now the trial is going to be studied and whether any constitutional guarantee was violated. Now The trial is judged to see if the development was normal".
According to the specialist,
"the case now goes to the higher court, which would be in Santa Rosa, and then it would go on in the event that there are issues to continue debating in the Supreme Court, which is the last instance from the territorial point of view."
"
It can be estimated that in the appeals channels they can last more or less between 8 and 9 years
to continue with the open case and found guilty, but with a sentence that would not be final," he explained.
impeachment
In another order, deputies from the ruling party and the opposition from the province of La Pampa have already presented two requests for judge Ana Clara Pérez Ballester to be subjected to impeachment for her intervention in the process to grant her Lucio Dupuy tenure in 2020: "To advance on the family magistrate, it is necessary that she is first dismissed and there should be a trial jury there, but you cannot advance on responsibility if she is not dismissed beforehand."
"If you resign, you are exposed to any type of action against you," he clarified.
