Hidden in a
false bottom in a suitcase
, Customs agents discovered a shocking shipment of drugs at the Ezeiza airport.
When analyzing a risk profile, they found an Austrian DJ and music producer who was trying to enter the country with almost
eight kilograms of methamphetamine
, the equivalent of 31,000 pills of maximum purity MDMA.
It is the synthetic drug with which
ecstasy
is made and the illegal shipment is valued at almost
half a million dollars
.
According to official information, the Austrian musician came from the Netherlands and had traveled to Argentina to participate in a series of festivals and electronic parties in the country.
The kidnapping was achieved thanks to an
analysis of the information and the profile
of the person who tried to enter with the drugs, who was considered
a risk due to several factors
: the country of origin, age, the number of suitcases and his trade.
The discovery consisted of three packages of MDMA that were hidden in the false bottom of the suitcase of the Austrian artist,
who was detained
.
The synthetic drug is valued at nearly half a million dollars.
The narcotic is the main ingredient used in the
manufacture of ecstasy
, commonly sold in pills containing
other substances such as caffeine and aspirin
.
Specialized agents from the General Directorate of Customs-AFIP estimated that, taking into account the purity and quantity of the drug found, more than 31,000 pills with 250 grams of MDMA each could have been produced.
According to the agency, "in the local market the narcotic in question
can be worth 45,000 dollars per kilo
and about 15
dollars per pill
, therefore, if it had not been discovered by Customs, the smuggling maneuver could have billed approximately 465,000 Dollars".
the smuggling operation could have billed approximately $465,000.

Electronic parties, world travel and age: the risk profile of synthetic drugs
The director of Customs, Guillermo Michel, explained to
Clarín
that it was the
X-ray machine
that returned suspicious images to the inspectors, who quickly decided to carry out a
thorough inspection of the passenger and the packages
he was bringing.
The analysis of the information that Customs had available in advance marked the passenger in question as a case that could potentially yield news based on indicators such as age
,
country of
origin
, the
number of bags
he brought and
his activity
related to electronic parties.
The realization of a series of festivals and
electronic parties in the next few days in Argentina reinforced the hypothesis
, since the detained man is also
the owner of a music label
.
From Customs they affirm that
in the last two months they made 55 alerts
with risk profiles.
Of which
22 tested positive
.
The agency explained that "the synthetic drug market has the peculiarity that
it reverses the relationship
that South America and Europe have in the case of other substances."
"In the case of cocaine, for example, the southern cone is a producer and exports to the old continent, where the value of that drug grows considerably. When it comes to synthetic drugs, the main production poles are in both Europe
and in Asia
and, precisely, South America becomes an attractive place since they are sold here at a higher price," Michel told this outlet.
He added that "in many European countries, a kilogram of MDMA sells for about $15,000, while a pill can cost around $5, that is,
a third of its value in Argentina
."
After the operation, Customs gave intervention to the National Economic Criminal Court 6, in charge of Judge
Marcelo Aguinsky
, and Celina Cortelezzi's secretary 11, from where the seizure of the found substance and the detention of the passenger was ordered.
