Edesur and power outages: how to request financial compensation

2023-02-17T10:48:25.669Z

What documentation is needed to request a refund of the amount of the last invoice. Step by step, how is the process.

Due to the prolonged power outages that occurred over the weekend and that affected thousands of users in the AMBA area, the Government fined Edesur $1,000 million and ordered the company to return users who "have been victims of cuts above the average established in the contract",

the entire invoice of the last month

.

For its part, the

National Electricity Regulatory Entity (ENRE)

, which will also audit

Edesur

by order of the Government, establishes that users can receive financial compensation for damage to electrical appliances due to fluctuations in the voltage of electricity or the suspension of supply.

But for this, it is essential

to first file a complaint with Edesur

and then start the process with the official body.

"Refrigerators, air conditioning equipment, washing machines, computers and televisions head the list of

devices that suffer damage due to voltage fluctuations

or when companies restore electrical service after a cut," they explain from the official ENRE website.

In this way

, Edesur must compensate the users

, as long as they present the corresponding claim.

The modalities in which the request for financial compensation for power outages can be made are various and it is essential to present the documentation that is detailed below.

How to request financial compensation for a prolonged cut?

From the ENRE they explained that they are "defining the appropriate mechanism so that the procedure is as agile as possible for the user."

But so far, the process can be done online

and

it is also necessary to first file a complaint with Edesur and write down the

claim number

.

The documentation you will need is:

  • Claim number

    made to the company

  • A

    signed report

with the following information: the date(s) and time(s) of the start of the cut(s), the date(s) and time(s) of the end of the cut(s)

  • Service invoice

(if the service is not in your name: a copy of the property title or the rental contract, or of a service or of the DNI where the address is stated)

To carry out the procedure:

  • Enter

    https://www.argentina.gob.ar/enre

Go to "Claims Management" and from there, go down to the end of the page where "Online Forms" is.

  • Click on the form

"To claim for deficiencies in the EDENOR / EDESUR service"

and complete it with the service invoice on hand and the claim number.

  • In the option "Select the type of claim to make", you must choose

    "Long cut or Repeated cut"

    .

  • The ENRE will notify the procedure to be applied.

  • The distributor (Edesur) will reimburse the corresponding amount (in kWh) in the next invoice.

If the reimbursement exceeds the amount of your invoice, the borrower will credit it to you on the following invoices.

What is needed to request financial compensation for damage to electrical appliances?

  • Photocopy of the last paid invoice.

  • Proof of claim before the distributor.

In the case of Edesur, the claim can be made online at

    www.edesur.com.ar/servicios-al-cliente/tramites-online/

and fill out an online form.

    Also through the free line

    0800-333-3787

    , every day, 24 hours

  • The damage claim form, which you can access by clicking here (

    www.argentina.gob.ar/enre/gestion-de-reclamos/formularios-online/formulario-atencion-usuarios

    ), signed and complete.

  • Estimates or original repair invoices

, with letterhead, in pesos and detailing: type of device, model, affected components, signature and clarification of the intervening technician, job description, list of materials used, spare parts prices and labor fees, AFIP and pension system registration numbers.

  • If the device cannot be fixed, it will be necessary to present a technical certificate that proves it and a

    budget for the purchase

of a device similar to the broken one.

  • If the service is not in your name

, you must submit a copy of the property title or the rental contract, or a service in your name, or the DNI where the address is stated.

Of course, it is very important to notify and file a complaint whenever a power outage occurs, since it is the only way to obtain a

claim number

.

And that number, precisely, is essential to obtain

financial compensation

from the distribution company.

Without claim number there is no compensation.

The supply cut left 180,000 users without electricity last weekend.

How to claim for an appliance damaged by power outages?

First you have to make the claim in

Edesur

through

0810-333-0419.

They will ask you:

  • ID

  • Address and account number

  • Written description of what happened

  • Estimate or invoice for the repair of the device mentioned above.

  • The procedure must be carried out by the owner of the supply, or by an authorized representative or manager.

This representative must present their ID and a power of attorney or authorization note signed by the owner.

By law, both Edenor and Edesur must respond within ten business days.

When they recognize that the claim is valid, they do not deposit the compensation in a bank account, but discount it in future settlements of the service.

If the energy provider company does not respond within the stipulated period or denies the validity of the claim, the user can resort to the ENRE, always with the

proof or number of the procedure carried out

.

How to do it?

On the Internet, you must complete the claim form by clicking here (it is the one on the ENRE page in the item

"To claim for deficiencies in the EDENOR / EDESUR service"

) and attach digital versions of the documentation mentioned above.

What are the different ways to contact the ENRE?
