Pension reform: break-in in two buildings of the University of Nantes, a security guard attacked

Incidents occurred on the Tertre university campus in Nantes on Thursday evening

Distance learning courses

Since Wednesday, some of the Nantes students have organized a blockade on the Tertre campus following a vote in the general assembly.

Several buildings are barricaded with furniture.

In response, the University of Nantes decided to cancel face-to-face courses on this campus and to organize them remotely for the students concerned, when possible.

Thursday morning, around 7:30 a.m., a group of people also caused a blockage of vehicle traffic and the tram near the University of Nantes.

Garbage containers were moved and set on fire near the Petit-Port roundabout, a very busy axis.

No exam on strike days

In a press release published Thursday on social networks, some of the students from the University of Nantes wrote that they regretted that the management gave

“no response”

to their claims.

They demanded in particular the

“trivialisation of courses during days of national mobilization”

and

“the immediate end of the use of distance learning”

.

Wishes to which the presidency of the university has only partially responded.

In a letter, she indicated that from this Friday, no exam, continuous assessment or attendance test would be organized on days of interprofessional strike and national demonstration.

On the other hand, it announced that the use of distance would be retained in the event of a blockade.
