Pensions: Philippine deputies to reinforce Pradié (LR) with an amendment on “long careers”

2023-02-17T17:53:53.889Z

The parliamentarians of Horizons claim to have obtained the agreement of the government to simplify the device. An interpretation that diverges at Matignon.

It is a last minute proposal to try to count in the debate on pensions.

A few hours before the end of the first reading of the reform in the National Assembly, the deputies of Horizons asked Friday for new concessions for “long careers”.

Edouard Philippe's supporters are demanding a maximum of 43 years of contribution for all those who started working early.

A proposal – already defended in the ranks of the Republicans (LR) by Aurélien Pradié – which would have received the agreement of the government, explains to

Figaro

the spokesperson for the Horizons deputies, Frédéric Valletoux.

An interpretation which is not shared by Matignon, where it is estimated that the press release from the Philippists does not go beyond the announcements already made by the Prime Minister last Tuesday.

The Prime Minister has already agreed to several costly concessions on “long careers”.

The latest, announced to everyone's surprise on Tuesday, targeted French people who entered working life at the age of 17 and 20: their contribution period increased from 44 to 43 years.

But those who start at 14, 16 or 18 still have to work 44, according to the government copy.

It was unsaleable.

We want to erase this side effect, which we have been asking for several weeks

, ”says MP Paul Christophe, in charge of pensions in the “philippist” group.

"

43 years of contribution for all, it is a measure of simplification, readability and social justice

", supports Frédéric Valletoux.

After two weeks of debate on the pension reform in public session, undermined by invective from the caricatural oppositions, we think it is time to appease in order to move forward

”, write the Horizons deputies in a press release.

For lack of time to examine their amendment included in article 8 of the bill - the debates in the National Assembly end Friday at midnight - they are counting on the government to resume it during the examination in the Senate, where the text must be discussed in committee from 28 February.

Return to the game

In addition to the vagueness around the initial device, the Horizons deputies did not taste that Elisabeth Borne made a new gesture for LR, and not for them.

Behind the scenes, these members of the parliamentary majority, who have several “slingers” in their ranks, often express their feeling of being overrun by the executive.

Hence their attempt to get back into the game.

There remains the cost of this new corrective, if it is translated into law.

The Prime Minister's latest announcements on "long careers" on Tuesday already represented "

500 million euros to be found

", according to the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire.

Order in the accounts

” remains a priority for Édouard Philippe.

The former Prime Minister made a point of recalling on BFMTV, on February 2, his concern not to "

lose sight of the imperative of the balance of the system

".

Despite, he had slipped, “

some essential justice measures

”.
