Both victims reported the crime at about 11:30 this morning (17th). One of them, a Kazakh woman with a Hong Kong ID card, deposited about 65,000 yuan into the bank designated by the scammer five times after receiving the recruitment information on WhatsApp. 4 bank accounts; another 30-year-old French man holding a Hong Kong ID card deposited about 30,000 yuan into 4 bank accounts designated by the scammer four times. At first, he received a commission of about 1,580 yuan. But after losing contact with the swindler, he began to suspect that he was cheated and called the police.

The two cases were classified as "acquisition of property by deception" and were respectively handed over to the second team of the Kowloon City Police District Criminal Investigation Team and the third team of the Yau Tsim Police District Criminal Investigation Team for follow-up. No one has been arrested yet.

The police reminded that scammers' job advertisements generally claim "quick money", "high labor", "same day pay" or "work from home". The age and education requirements of applicants are low, and the actual position or job content will not be mentioned. , and only provide instant messaging software or mobile phone number contact methods.

Some scammers even pay commissions after the initial deposit to gain trust.
