Soutien: the 5 most frequently asked questions

How long does a bra last? Are the hoop ones better? Is not wearing a bra bad for the breasts? Between myths and truths, we answer these and other questions (which, surely, you have ever asked yourself).

1) Do I have to wear the bra all the time (ie 24/7)?

We do not recommend that you wear an underwire bra all day and all night.

However, many women find it comfortable to sleep in bed with a non-wired, triangle-type bra, as it provides support.

It all depends on personal preference, but it's always good to give lolas a break.

2) Does not wearing a bra make our breasts sag?

There is no evidence that sagging breasts are caused by not wearing a bra.

Instead, there are a host of biological and genetic factors that increase or decrease the likelihood of breast sagging.

However, the recommendation is to wear a sports bra during sports, as failure to do so may increase the risk of damage to Cooper's ligaments in the bust.

3) Are the straps of the bra what give support and structure to the breasts?

Only 10% of a bra's support comes from the straps.

For women with large busts, for example, straps are not enough to provide the necessary support;

what is recommended is to wear a well-fitting underwire bra.

For smaller breasts, straps are a great design element in lingerie, but they are also not critical in providing better support and structure.

4) And the ring of the bra, can it cause any harm to our health?

When you wear a bra with an underwire, the most important thing is that the underwire is behind the breast tissue, never on it.

The best way to check this is to press gently against the wire;

if the wire bounces, it is an indication that it is sitting on the tissue, and not on the rib cage.

When choosing a model with an underwire, keep in mind that flexible wires and cables that have a padded cover around them will feel much more comfortable.

5) How long does a bra last?

How should we take care of it and how often should we wash it?

Ideally, wash the bra after two or three uses, preferably by hand.

At least every six months you have to "check" your bras to make sure they still fit (and to keep your wardrobe up to date).

If you wear the same bra every day, its useful life will be around three months;

but if that bodice is worn in rotation with others, it will have greater durability.
