The 10 best hotels in Strasbourg

2023-02-17T07:17:49.335Z

THE FIGARO SELECTION - It is good to dawdle in Strasbourg along the Ill or in the charming streets of Petite France. It is also good to dream in a singular hotel. Here is our selection of addresses in the Alsatian capital.

Embraced by the arms of the Ill, its Grande Île, connected to the rest of the city by 21 bridges and footbridges, Strasbourg reveals an incomparable architectural heritage.

A cosmopolitan border town in the heart of Europe and the second largest river port in France, the Alsatian capital is now reconnecting with the Rhine.

It is here that new neighborhoods flourish like a new city.

Our selection of addresses to have sweet dreams.

Hôtel des XV, an intimate address

Transformed into a hotel in 2017, this address has ten elegant rooms, all different and very pleasant.

This mansion is a small jewel whose secret we would gladly keep.

Transformed into a hotel in 2017, it has ten elegant rooms, all different and very pleasant.

As proof, the first owners of 1914 are still there, in their own way, their family coats of arms having remained on the stained glass windows.

“Good mood” detail: in the morning, on fine days, the breakfast room is bathed in sunshine.

The rays then splash the floral wallpaper.

The hotel is about ten minutes by bus from the city centre.

The room to book:

the 4 in bright orange matching taupe and gray tones, original parquet floor and half-moon balcony.

The price:

from €110 per night in a double room.

Hannong Hotel & Wine Bar, the Roaring Twenties revisited

The spirit of the 1930s, which is still very present, is expressed in a contemporary way in the 72 rooms.

Hannong Hotel & Wine Bar / Photo press

Centenary, this 4-star maintains a unique link to the history of art.

Probably because its founders, the Horn brothers, left their mark on the city.

In 1928, they commissioned the design of the Aubette, a listed building, from avant-garde artists.

Among them, Sophie Taeuber-Arp, wife of Jean Arp, who also decorated the hotel's glass-roofed lounge.

If its design has disappeared from the walls, the spirit of the 1930s is still very present there, declining in a contemporary way in the 72 rooms, most of which have been renovated.

500 meters from the cathedral, the Hannong has had the charm of a family hotel for four generations.

The room to book:

the Junior Suite (107) for its bow-window and its arched bench.

The price:

from €109 per night in a double room.

Hannong Hotel & Wine Bar 15, rue du 22 Novembre, 67000 Strasbourg.

Sofitel Strasbourg Grande Île, comforting classic

Sofitel Strasbourg Grande Île, a comforting classic 5-star hotel.

Sofitel Strasbourg / Press photo

This is a 5-star hotel where our four-legged friends are as welcome as the little ones and their parents.

It's all in the little touches and surprises.

Inaugurated in 1964, the establishment has 150 rooms, some of which are dressed in stretched canvas repeating the

Oaths of Strasbourg

– a pact signing the military alliance in 842 of two sons of Charlemagne against their brother.

A room entirely dedicated to the

Little Prince

will soon be inaugurated.

The tram is 200 meters away.

The room to book:

in fine weather, room 18 facing the green courtyard, or room 403 for its balcony overlooking the listed Saint-Pierre-le-Jeune church.

The price:

from €155 per night in a double room.

Sofitel Strasbourg Grande Île, 4 place Saint-Pierre-le-Jeune, 67000 Strasbourg.

Léonor Hôtel, elegance in basketball

The 18th-century mansion nicely teases 19th-century neoclassical architecture and concrete.

Léonor Hôtel / Photo press

Mansion, courthouse, central police station and, since 2021, 4-star hotel… The walls have seen it!

As for the eras, they cheerfully overlap behind the 18th, 19th and 21st century facades, revolving around a vegetated courtyard-terrace (500 m2).

The ensemble, orchestrated by renowned designer Jean-Philippe Nuel, is inspired by Strasbourg and its region.

Thus, sandstone, wood from the Vosges and a tiled stove warm up the common areas.

Wallpaper, made to order from patterns found on site, covers the 116 rooms and suites.

The plus:

the continuous service of the restaurant and the menu imagined by the duo Nicolas Stamm and Serge Schaal, twice starred at the Fourchette des Ducs in Obernai.

The price:

from €160 per night in a double room.

Léonor Hotel, 11, rue de la Nuée Bleue, 67000 Strasbourg.

Such.

: 03 67 29 29 29.

Maison Rouge Hotel & Spa, a brand institution

The 131 rooms and suites of this 5-star Art Deco style hotel.

Maison Rouge Hotel & Spa / Photo press

Established for several centuries in Strasbourg, this 5-star hotel (member of the Autograph Collection) was completely renovated in 2017, keeping the Art Deco spirit of the building.

Since then, the 131 rooms and suites offer a cocoon spirit.

Three new features since 2021: the “Mistinguett” tea room, green and powder pink, between boudoir and candy box;

the bar-restaurant “le 1387” and finally the spa with sauna and jacuzzi where vinotherapy is in the spotlight.

Everything is a five-minute walk from Petite France.

The room to book:

the Signature Suite (518) of 80 m2, on the 5th floor, for its full view of the cathedral.

The price:

from €200 per night in a double room.

Maison Rouge Hotel & Spa, 4 rue des Francs Bourgeois, 67000 Strasbourg.

Such.

Les Haras Hotel, living heritage

In a former stud farm at the gates of Petite France, this original four-star hotel is one of the most attractive accommodations in the Alsatian capital.

Les Haras Hotel / Press Photo

It's not the sheep that we count here to fall asleep, but the horses – or their ghosts.

In 2015, this former Royal Stud Farm was brilliantly transformed into a four-star hotel with 55 rooms.

Patrick Jouin and Sanjit Manku, who had decorated it, recently signed the new extension of 60 contemporary rooms and suites.

The building, a former sisters' clinic, this time inspired them with the theme of ancestral medicine and spirituality.

Calm and softness emerge from the lines and natural materials.

The spa is a must.

The hotel is on the outskirts of Petite France.

Our favourite:

Les Haras Brasserie for its phenomenal decor and excellent food.

The price:

from €180 per night in a double room.

Les Haras Hotel, 23 rue des Glacières, 67000 Strasbourg.

Such.

: 03 90 20 50 00.

Hotel Cour du Corbeau Strasbourg MGallery, 3D postcard

It was necessary to adapt to the architecture of the 16th century to fit out the 63 comfortable rooms and suites of this MGallery in the heart of Strasbourg.

Hotel Cour du Corbeau Strasbourg MGallery / Press photo

This 4-star hotel is the image of a dreamed-of (and yet very real) Alsace with its magnificent 16th century courtyard lined with passageways and wooden balconies.

Add a few geraniums on sunny days and… clic-clac, a photo!

The places have a crazy charm.

The red of the exterior doors refers to the original color which is said to have served to ward off insects.

The 63 rooms, all different, are accessible by period staircases, crooked, or by lift.

Our favourite:

room 252 for its blue tones and its exposed beams but above all for its bathroom... with a free-standing bathtub and stained glass windows!

The price:

from €175 per night in a double room.

Hotel Cour du Corbeau Strasbourg MGallery, 6-8 rue des Couples, 67000 Strasbourg.

Such.

Garrigae Villa la Florangerie, like a resident

The Villa Florangerie is immersed in the calm of the embassy district, not far from the Parc de l'Orangerie.

Garrigae Villa la Florangerie / Press photo

Entirely renovated in 2019, Villa Florangerie is immersed in the calm of the embassy district, not far from the Parc de l'Orangerie.

From the outside, its three buildings give it the air of a chic residence with its small garden and its outdoor swimming pool (unique in a hotel in Strasbourg).

The thirty rooms and suites – contemporary design and primary colors – offer five-star bedding.

And for good reason !

Villa Florangerie sacrificed one star after the pandemic, dropping to four.

A boon for hosts.

The room to book:

the Signature Suite for its double terrace to the north and south.

The price:

from €150 per night in a double room.

Garrigae Villa la Florangerie, 11 rue Westercamp, 67000 Strasbourg.

A former 17th century mill, this 5-star housed the Glacières de Strasbourg until 1989, producing ice cream for traders, brewers and individuals.

All that remains are cogwheels in beech wood, visible behind glass from the lobby and the bar.

In the heart of Petite France, the hotel offers a delicious dive back in time.

It has 75 comfortable rooms – some of which are being renovated.

The room to book:

124 (Junior Suite) for its balcony and its 360° view of Petite France.

The price:

from €209 per night in a double room.
