The Palestinian factions, organizations, unions, and popular institutions organized a solidarity stand in front of the United Nations headquarters in Damascus, to demand the lifting of the siege and unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria, and to provide support to the Syrian people to face the repercussions of the earthquake.
In a message addressed to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the participants called for the latter to stand up to his responsibilities in the Security Council, the United Nations General Assembly and all humanitarian institutions to lift the siege and the unilateral coercive measures imposed on Syria.
The participants also called on all countries and international humanitarian institutions to break this unjust blockade and to take immediate action to help Syria to face the repercussions of the earthquake and its disastrous consequences.
The participants explained that the earthquake that hit the Syrian lands resulted in tens of thousands of Syrian and Palestinian victims and injured in Syria, and thousands of destroyed and cracked homes, and resulted in a humanitarian catastrophe in light of the state of siege and unjust sanctions imposed by the United States of America and some countries in its orbit, which created Crisis and suffering at all levels, affecting children, women, the elderly and thousands of patients.
In a statement read by a member of the Political Bureau of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine - General Command, Ramez Mustafa, the Palestinian factions in Damascus called on the international community to expedite its duties to lift the siege on Syria and condemn what the United States of America is doing in its immoral handling of the catastrophe of the devastating earthquake that Syria was exposed to. Continuing to impose its illegal sanctions and stealing and plundering the American occupation of Syrian oil, considering that Washington’s announcement of a step to suspend part of the sanctions for a period of 180 days is nothing but a kind of misleading and deception that the American administration has mastered.
The factions saluted all countries, bodies, organizations, and institutions that rushed to provide aid to Syria, affirming their great confidence in the ability of the Syrian leadership, government, and people to overcome their humanitarian ordeal, thanks to the concerted efforts of its sons, brothers, allies, and friends.
