The Council of Ministers, during an extraordinary session today chaired by Eng. Hussein Arnous, reviewed the working papers submitted by the four ministerial committees (economic, services and infrastructure, resources and energy, and human development), which deal with the vision of each committee regarding dealing with the effects and repercussions of the earthquake for the sector that falls within its scope of work. .
The Council reviewed in detail some proposals submitted by the Economic Committee regarding dealing with the repercussions of the earthquake, whether at the level of the family sector or at the level of the business sector, as well as at the level of the government sector, and directed the four ministerial committees to complete the discussion and study of the proposals submitted in coordination with all concerned national partners, in preparation for To prepare draft legal instruments to be approved, and to put them into practice in the next phase.
The Cabinet also discussed a number of practical and implementable scenarios and proposals in the short, medium and long term, which contribute to mitigating the repercussions of the earthquake disaster and limiting its negative effects, and providing all forms of aid and support to those affected, in the context of the action plan organizing the government response to the repercussions of the earthquake as a subsequent phase of the response. And he stressed the need to prepare the final database of the numbers of those affected and to count the damages accurately, so that appropriate measures can be taken in this regard, in a way that contributes to mitigating as much as possible the effects of the disaster according to the scenarios that will be approved after study and evaluation.
Engineer Arnous considered that the government today and all the activities of society, including organizations, trade unions, civil society and federations of chambers, are facing a major challenge that requires raising levels of cooperation and coordination to mitigate the effects of this disaster, which requires synergy and providing all available capabilities and finding ways and solutions to overcome the repercussions of the devastating earthquake that affected various sectors in the regions. afflicted.
It was also stressed the need to follow up on the options presented in terms of providing temporary housing for those affected, by providing prefabricated housing units and choosing suitable sites for them, while securing the network of basic and necessary services and infrastructure.
The Council instructed the Ministry of Health to follow up the precautionary measures to prevent the spread of diseases in shelter centers, and stressed the continuous updating of the needs of the affected areas to ensure a rapid response to the living and health requirements of those affected, and requested a review of investment spending priorities, and a rearrangement of priorities within the framework of the organized action plan to respond to the repercussions of the earthquake.
The Cabinet welcomed the continued flow of aid from brotherly and friendly countries in light of the urgent and great need for it to meet the broad requirements in response to the repercussions of the earthquake.
